Born in Ukraine and emigrating to the US as a young boy, Louis "Kid" Kaplan was a featherweight world champion who was known for his toughness and his relentless inside fighting style within the ring. After beginning his career in 1919 at age 18, Kaplan quickly established himself as a busy fighter- both in terms of his fight schedule and his fight style. By January 1925, Kaplan already had more than 80 pro fights under his belt, experience which aided him greatly in his victory against Danny Kramer for the vacant world featherweight title. Unfortunately, due to issues making weight, Kaplan chose to vacate his title and move up to lightweight just a year after he became world champion for the first (and last) time. Despite never getting a title shot at lightweight, Kaplan had plenty of success at the weight- cementing his overall legacy and defeating great fighters such as Joe Glick, Billy Petrolle, Battling Battalino, Sammy Mandell, Johnny Jadick and Jackie Fields. Kaplan retired from boxing in 1933 with an impressive record of 108-13-17, with most of his losses and draws coming within the first few years of his career. Win resume: Joe Glick Billy Petrolle Battling Battalino Sammy Mandell Johnny Jadick Jackie Fields Babe Herman Harry Dublinsky Billy Wallace (very underrated resume himself) Danny Kramer Jack Portney Jimmy Goodrich Bruce Flowers Johnny Farr Danny Frush Edward Wagner Leo Roy Lou Paluso Jose Lombardo Tommy Noble Maurice Holtzer Tommy Cello Tommy Herman Jackie Pilkington Al Foreman Unfortunately the only film I’ve been able to find of Kaplan is a short clip from one of his fights against Battling Battalino, but it’s better than nothing I suppose. He wasn't born in Ukraine, he was born in Russia in 1901. You don't say 'James J. Jeffries was born in California", do you? No, you say, "James J. Jeffries was born in California, USA".

There was no such country as Ukraine in 1901. Same as if someone was born in California before 1846, he was born in Mexico, not in the US. Just because boxrec adopted a different set of rules to list the fighters, that doesn't make 1901 Kiev a Ukrainian city, it's the capital of one of Russian Empire's regions.
McVey has said it's Kiev; Senya has said it's Russia. That's fine, the rest is deleted. If you boys want to talk politics, the lounge will welcome you with open arms. Here it's better to state these opinions if absolutely necessary and move along.
Ezzard Charles and Evander Holyfield were both born in Georgia, the one in the USA, not the one in Eurasia. Which makes them both South American, because Georgia is in the South in America.
