Either man could win and Floyd is more skilled than Inoue. Floyd only has one weakness and that is that he isn't as good fighting from out-range as he is mid and in-range. He loves to box on the back foot however on the front especially when he has to reach to get to you he is a bit vulnerable. Watch his fight with Oscar De La Hoya and you'll see he can't help but get touched a few times when he boxes from the outside. Of course, he made adjustments as the fight progressed but a skilled boxer can take advantage of this weakness at the right times. Inoue is the opposite where he prefers to box at out and mid-range but not at in-range. He suffers a bit when his opponent constantly tries to force him to box in the pocket and even though he can make adjustments to these tactics as Floyd can a high I.Q. boxer can use this weakness to great advantage. Floyd is better simply because he moves more precisely and has slightly better timing than Inoue does. The Monster will have success when making Floyd reach for him on the outside and Floyd will have success when Naoya follows up on a jab with a combination and makes it to the pocket where Floyd is most comfortable. I see Floyd drawing Inoue in more frequently after he has success at out-range and making him pay for it. He barely edges a decision win in my book.
This thread is what p4p means. I think Inoue has a bunch left in his career and so I will get to see him some more against more different styles onder more different circumstances before he hangs em' up. He maybe has comparable physical gifts. Over time, his boxing IQ will be easier to compare to Floyd's, I think.
if rogondeux was floyds size we would all be calling him an atg, but thats not how the world works. if lomachenko was a nautral welterweight we would also be calling him an atg.
Styles make fights and I think Maidana’s first performance is a closer fight than an Inoue fight would be.
No we wouldn’t lol. Rigo almost died against bum ass Amagasa and was dropped brutally by Donair. Elite skills but not an ATG even if he was a WW. Would probably get brutally stopped by multiple dudes on Floyd’s resume.
he beat donaire easily when he was #1 p4p list, and he beat the living dog **** out of amagasa. yes, he was chinny but skills were elite.
