I thought it was a joke, but I can see some people really think that. Wow. Fury had a really bad fight against an old and gun-shy Wlad, got banned for PEDs, came back and ducked both an unbeaten Joshua and Whyte to go down the Wilder route and beat him over and over again. That's it for his resume pretty much. I never understood the hype around the guy who still has more kids than title fights. I don't even like Joshua, but the idea of Fury having a better resume than him is ludicrous. Joshua beat every notable Fury opponent either 1) in a more emphatic, definite way or 2) beat them while they were much fresher/more dangerous/more confident/unbeaten. Joshua beat a prime, unbeaten Whyte. He beat an aggressive, hungry Wlad who would have flattened Fury. He beat up Wallin in five rounds even though Wallin was at a career high following a victory over Gassiev. He beat up Ngannou, who put Fury on his backside and made him look like an amateur for large portions of what was supposed to be just an exhibition. Other than that, Joshua beat Ruiz, Parker, Martin, Povetkin, and Pulev. Fury is not even close to that level of resume. You need binoculars to see it, it falls behind Joshua's resume that far.
We had the best fighting a pretender. We already saw the two best heavyweights when Usyk fought Joshua and Usyk showed he's simply levels above everyone. We then had endless hyperbolic threads from you claiming how Fury will win easily, only for your confidence to dilute as the fight drew nearer and nearer. Understandable, you've waxed lyrical for a while how easily Fury will win, but needed to cover the stark reality that Fury would not only lose, but be utterly dominated. You were obnoxiously confident when the fight wasn't signed and looked unlikely to ever be, but once it was signed you started to prepare your narrative and get the excuses ready. Utterly transparent behavior, seen time and time again from similar high posting noobs who eventually disappear back into the woodwork. When Usyk retires that will indeed be a sad day for boxing. Fury, not so much. Like Wilder he's held up the division, claiming he's the best without ever once backing it up and gone out of his way to avoid risk. Guys like these are bad for the sport.
One glaring hole in the "AJ resume" stuff has always been that AJ's best win by a margin is his life and death at home with 41 Wlad, who Fury had beaten with relative ease away from home when Wlad was a dominant champion and P4P ranked fighter 17 months prior. Fury was given a 20% chance to win, Joshua 75%. The wins are not comparable. A worse version of Wlad had much more success against Joshua because Fury was considerably better than Joshua and a more difficult style. Another glaring hole is that Joshua has three losses, including a quit job loss against a 2nd tier heavyweight in Ruiz. Fury has one loss to a fighter who beat Joshua twice and Fury was more competitive than Joshua, despite poor form coming in. So again, Fury has shown a higher level against the best opponents. Furthermore, of the "big three" pre-Usyk, Joshua hasn't fought either of his main rivals to this day, while Fury and Wilder fought a trilogy with each other. Wilder has fallen off now but the Hearns and Joshua were fully aware of the danger at the time, hence the "marination" saga which ultimately blew up for both sides. It's for these reasons that Fury is still in the mix, while Joshua is dependent on someone throwing him a bone to get back into it.
So when Tyson Fury beat Dillian Whyte he doesn't get credit because Whyte was old and past it from being knocked out but when Parker beat Wilder last year year Wilder wasn't old and past it after being beaten up by Fury twice? Interesting
Indeed. Chisora and Whyte were much of a muchness with Parker and Ruiz. Wilder and Fury were overwhelmingly recognised as the best fighters Joshua could have on his record from 2018-2021. Champ Wlad away Wilder trilogy away Loss to Usyk > Dethroned Wlad home Two losses to Usyk, one to Ruiz
Joshua isn't my cup of tea, but he's objectively got a better résumé. He's faced Parker, Breazeale, Whyte, Povetkin, Pulev, Usyk (twice), Ruiz (twice), Klitschko , and several more fighters in and around the top 10. You can argue about their quality, but he faced whatever was put in front of him. He never took a Tom Schwartz type gimme, nor disappeared after becoming champion for "personal reasons". If you remove Klitschko and Whyte, who they both fought, who does Fury have to counter balance all those people AJ fought? Wilder? Is that it? Sorry, Fury's résumé stinks worse than his Dad's breath.
After Fury has a second loss to Usyk in the Fall none of this will matter. Especially if Zhang savagely KO’s Wilder next weekend. Fury’s resume gets worse.
Absolute rubbish ! Here is all the testing dates on UKADs own site,Fury had elevated levels of nandrolone metabolites after one fight and that was the Hammer fight so Fury was tested more in the lead up to the Wlad fight and also afterwards . https://www.ukad.org.uk/news/article/UKAD-and-Mr-Tyson-Fury-and-Mr-Hughie-Fury-issue-joint-statement#:~:text=UKAD, Tyson Fury and,2) against Tyson Fury based
Wilder probably doesn't belong in any hypothetical big three on accomplishments. His resume is similar to Dillian Whyte's Agit Kabayel may end up rating higher than Wilder as well
