Where does Usyk's win over Fury rate amongst other big significant wins at Heavyweight ?

Its one of the best wins of a 6'2 heavyweight

 

Not as high as it should due to Fury's paper thin resume and protected '0'.

The Joshua win was what cemented his greatness at heavyweight, dominating and beating a proven super heavy.

 

Of those bouts you've mentioned. I've got it on par with the Frazier Vs Ali bout. It wasn't a given by any means who was to win that one, similar in many ways to what we all just watched recently.

 

Hmm, it's a tough one, as I must have missed the part where Louis, Tyson, Lewis, Ali, Foreman, Holmes, etc. in their prior fight needed a gift decision against a 40 year old, inactive MMA fighter, with a bum knee, making his boxing debut

 

I found myself applauding parts of Joshua v Usyk 1 when watching it at home, Usyk was just that good.

I think the constant delays, Ngannou fiasco, and generally both fighters being wrong side of 35 hampered the greatness of what was an entertaining fight

 

This was more about a win against the boxing establishment than anything...

 

Went against the whole system and exposed a lot of myths that people have been wrongly believing in for years!

 

You guys said it right.

There is a whole series of interconnected stories in this victory. David and Goliath...good guy vs villain....having to beat the chosen man of the Saudis with their crooked judge and their referee....being a hero for a whole nation at war.....winning everything there is to win as an amateur and pro...remaining undefeated....beating father time....beating the man who disgraced boxing in so many ways...

You can go on and on with this fight and what it meant.

 

Like @CST80 @Serge and many others said, Fury looked far sharper against Usyk. It is a shame he took that fight before Usyk though.

 

No where near any of the fights listed here,,,Maybe around 20th? Maybe ,,,,

No one considered Joshua in the top 2 during either Usyk-Joshua fight.

After beating Wilder, it was Fury on the throne. When Fury-Usyk took place, they were 1a and 1b. Far more historical significance. Fury's far better performance showed the level difference between the fights.

 

Not quite in the historical sense, no. Full Legend takes time. That's both fights AND fighters.

I meant on par and similar in that all four men were unbeaten. All four could very well be argued to be genuinely the number 1 fighters until they actually fought. And, both fights went the distance with some drama in a big name undisputed heavyweight clash.

What's your 'equivalent' fight to compare to the Usyk Vs Fury scrap?. And why?
