He's probably pretty good. If he beats Dubious it's still hard to know though because even Joyce did.
Imo Hrgović is good enough to beat Dubois, and Mahmudov. Let's wait for the fight with Dubois, then let me give my opinion on Hrgović Vs. Sanchez, Usyk, Fury and AJ.
That's kinda how I see it, I don't know. He's 31 years old and had 17 fights ,his win over Zhang who's pushing 40 was a nice win but I'm not convinced of his overall abilities just yet.
I rate Hrgovic high, world #5 in my list, just below Parker. I expect him to beat Dubois this saturday, then fight Joshua for the IBF. Him vs Parker would be a tremendous matchup.
That roundtable they had the other day with Hrgovic, Dubois, Big Bang and The Dosser got me thinking that Hrgoviic is not only the only one of them to share a ring with one of the others (Big Bang) but he's actually shared a ring with all the others. He bashed up Dubois in sparring and more than held his own with The Dosser when sparring him too. Yes, Dubois was much younger at 20 y/o, not the 17 y/o lie both Big Frank and Dubois have put out there, but by the same token Hrgovic was about the same age when he sparred a 28 y/o 28-0 Dosser. And obviously he beat Big Bang in the pros albeit very controversially. To be fair, we can't just ignore the fact he was obviously deeply affected and mourning the devastating loss of his father who he was extremely close to and idolized. So Hrgovic was probably quietly thinking to himself at the time that he's got better of all three of them either in the gym or in a real fight. And that's where a lot of his hype stems from and why many people within the game have thought so highly of him and why other fighters have avoided or flat out ducked him, because of his gym exploits. But as said, he hasn't really improved since then and it's a shame. Even Haye said had someone told him back when he sparred him that Hrgovic would be in the position he is today he would've been shocked. He was convinced Hrgovic would've become a world champion long before now. Hrgovic has sparred Wlad, Haye, The Dosser and Dubois among many others and fought Big Bang all of whom are massive punchers and some arguably the hardest punchers of all time. Wlad spoke highly of him and his toughness too. None of this means he will beat Dubois of course but there is a reason why he's been hyped and that hype wasn't just coming from fans.
How good is he? Let's just say Joshua would never fight him and will look to take out a shot to **** Dillian Whyte or someone like that.
That's my take. He's still somewhat of a question mark as to what his ceiling is. Mostly not his fault that he hasn't had more good fights. The DDD fight might answer some questions.
Dubois is a glass cannon HW. In the same mould as others before him like Price. As soon as the other guy throws back the wheels come off. It could be a very early night for Dubois if Hrgovic comes in ultra aggressive early bells.
Well, he needs to beat couple of british fighters to have respect on this forum. He can KO AJ and still don't get credit, becuase "he was not the first one to do it" or "AJ already lost 3 times"
I thought Hrgovic was overrated but damn I didn't think Dubois would beat him. Seems Hrgovic maybe worse than I thought or Dubois is better than I thought. I think Hrgovic is a prime example of a good amateur simply not improving and stagnating due to poor match making.
Hrgovic has fought weak opposition as a pro. Dubois has fought tough opposition & that was the difference. Dubois is only 26 & is getting better.
