He would have made life changing sums of money for fighting AJ in 2019 along with the rematch.

I doubt if he earned anywhere near that kind of money for all the fights together with Showtime and PBC after that.

He would have had a real shot to get the KO on AJ as well.

Biggest duck since Lewis/Bowe in 93 and yes a massive error but in reality he didn't have the freedom to make that choice. Haymon controls all his fighters with an iron fist and they have to say and do what he says. He might have genuinely wanted the fight but instead chose to fall in line and publicly turn down the biggest guaranteed fight purse in boxing history.

I just hope Wilder has been smart with his money he has 8 kids from 4 women and counting, that depleted Holyfield's bank balance pretty damn quickly, he'll need every cent because he's going to be paying out huge sums of cash for his kids for years to come.

Yeah, in hindsight it was a terrible decision from Wilder and his team to not take that fight then, because if it were to happen now it means absolutely nothing. I would have favored Wilder then, id favor AJ now.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy!

Bet he dreams every night of all the Vegas hookers he could have beat up for that money.

He should most definitely put everything he has in a trust. And invest some into dividend paying stocks that covers his monthly expenses. 1.5 million in just KO is nearly 50k a year in dividends, before tax.
By all accounts, he should be set for life and protected even if all of the baby momas turn on him and take him to court.

    Except it's obviously Matchroom propaganda.
If you actually believe that Finkel would reject that offer and not do absolutely everything in his power to make that deal, you're being very silly. And Finkel absolutely has complete control over 70IQ Wilder.
Especially back then it makes no sense they reject such terms when it was the only 'superfight' financially since Fury was out of it and Usyk wasn't a factor.
Wilder also would take it, especially back then when he was undefeated and believed he could KO anyone.

Made an absolutely horrific decision signing with al. He should have never been with al haymon. That is what caused him to reject the offer but he is an absolute clown for doing so.

He should be set for life with all the money he's made but Holyfield made more and ended up losing it all. Wilder likes to splash the cash on flash cars and clothes, but hopefully he's also made wise investments too to secure long term financial stability. Hate to see fighters end up broke.

I'm sure it was a $50m purse at the time. Now it's $100m?

Joshua has missed the boat for his 2 career defining fights, V Wilder and Fury. Regardless of who's fault it is, it's insane that those fights didn't happen when they were in their prime.

Rest assured Wilder will retire a very rich man.

The path he chose was what helped build the illusion he became. Had he picked a different promoter I’m confident he’d have been exposed very fast, and would never become a champion. Avoiding Joshua was the correct career choice, based on their model. Picking Fury as an alternative was the misstep.

It was a blatant duck, but ultimately it's better for him, I think. I always thought any version of Joshua would beat the living daylights out of him. This way he was able to get a few more pay cheques at least.
