He was always a fraud, but it shows how appearances and careful matchmaking can pull the wool over a lot of people's eyes, and once you've done that it can be extremely hard to clear them again, because people don't want to admit they've been hoodwinked and would rather persist in and even contribute to the myth. Look at the dupes still thinking he'd beat AJ and positing all manner of positive hypothetical results for him in his prime, calling him one of the hardest hitters in boxing history etc. But fair play to him for his hustle, and for always coming into fights in tip-top condition. He may have been a skill-less clown, but he put the work in and never dialled in a performance to my knowledge.

His power is what saved him in numerous fights.
And,say what you will but Wilder could punch very hard.

Cognitive dissonance. I know you are a highly educated guy and know the term, but I just wanted to throw it out there.

Never understood how someone with so much confidence as during the build ups could look so terrified once he got in the ring. Absolutely scared to death of getting hit.

I can say with a clear conscience I was one of the few that never fell for the falsehoods so many parroted on here about him. Catch weight and a few others were on to him but go back and look at the records I been screaming he is a fraud since 2014 or more. So many refused to believe when all the evidence was right there - the lack of skill, the hand picked tomato cans over and over to try and look good, running from Povetkin, scrubbing the Sconiers video, and so on and so on.

There's levels in boxing, smart match making and smart decisions make all the difference and can build legacy, hence Fury is in the position he is, he legit built his name on beating Wilder 3 times, he the first to do it.. imo the first top heavyweight to fight him beats him

4-0 in British wins last night. And 0-3 for Americans

American boxing seems to be on the downhill, it's especially evident when they fight abroad.

Dude, it's dead, and has been for a couple of decades. If anyone here learns boxing at all its to further their MMA skills.

Shame, too, because we have a lot of good athletes that don't make it to the NBA or NFL, and we do have facilities to train then because of the MMA thing. You would think that someone enterprising would be on the look to convert these guys, given how much money is still in the sport through the Brits and Saudis.

Career earnings somewhere around $100 million. Net worth, $50 million. Over 40 career wins.
So I guess not exactly "flat out garbage".

It's much easier to manufacture a hard hitting hypejob at heavy than any other weight because so many heavies are bulky and slow plodders with limited technique and even more limited ring IQ...

So you can take a limited fighter with decent athleticism but no ring IQ or depth of technique and feed them lots of big old cans who'll look impressive being toppled.

That's pretty much the story of Wilders career.
He was well managed, in all honesty - his team knew he was extremely limited in multiple important ways, but he was also reasonably quick and could punch hard. Feed him lots of limited boxers who were slow and not particularly big punchers and he'd do just fine - and he did, until they tried to feed him a ruined version of Fury and he couldn't punch quite hard enough to finish the job.

Very, very limited fighter whose career will always fool the casuals who think running around with a belt and knocking out bums actually counts for something.

Very well managed "flat out garbage", I would say.

Extremely limited, should never have been anywhere near a belt let alone holding one so long... Never beat a single legit contender.

But he'll retire pretty rich and with many admiring casuals.

Yep, the boys management done good.

His KO% is 33% with Top 10 rated heavyweights. Even less if you cross out Dominic Breazeale outta this list.

    Fury's resume looks really bad.
All his best wins such as Wallin and Wilder were demolished with ease recently.
