Team Wilder rejecting the DAZN $100 million AJ fight deal in 2019 was a massive blunder

If he got chinnned in a round, then he would never be marketable again

I think he viewed Fury as a soft touch following his return and expected to smash him in a few rounds, then he would bring more chips to the table

In hindsight, I'm not sure he made the wrong choice, because his trilogy with Fury gave him the platform

If Aj really could have blasted him out, then yes he made great money for a fight, but everything down hill after

The ironic thing is,had Wilder took the Aj fight first and had Aj knocked him out? Then we would have had at least 2 fights with Fury, because where else could he go without Joshua at that time?

Anyway it matters not, things worked out the way they are supposed to and the titles belong to the right guy

I think Wilder was also jealous of AJ star power. By saying star power i mean he was able to pull huge numbers. And he and Fury essentially say that they intend and they did it to freeze AJ out of the picture. And AJ losing to Ruiz was music to their ears.
That being said i think at the end Wilder wanted that big payday against AJ. But Parker lose derailed everything.
Another reason for boxers to stop ducking and fight the big fights when they arrive, and not try to delay them in order to get them in the best possible time for them.

I just hope WIlder is smart enough with his money, as with all of his kids and ex wife's/girlfriend and especially in USA, you could waste everything real fast. I'm not following him, but i think he is with a new wife/girlfriend again.
Outside of the idiotic body talk, Wilder in the last few years behavior was decent, still delusional, but decent. Saying delusional i mean is he never gave Fury or Parker any credits for their wins. He always find some excuses. Pretty sure he will find some for Zhang as well.

Is that the $50 mill offer than was sent via email directly from Wilder, that Finkel refused to meet to discuss when Hearn was in New York, that they refused to send a contract for at first and when they did finally send a contract in turned out to be a $50 million fee for 100% of the broadcast rights that would violate Joshua existing broadcast right contracts and so was a deal he could never actually agree too.

Wasn’t that not the counter offer and considerably more than the $12.5 million flat fee offered to Wilder in a take it or leave it deal ? The fight should have been made back when it could have been for Undisputed we all know that, maybe if the Saudis had been involved at the time it would have happened, just a pity it was Finkel and Hearn dealing with it who we all know smoke and mirror everything to suit there own agendas .

There is no debate. Wilder was a cuck and passed on $100 million and "bet on himself" lmao

What debate we on about here ? My first post on here was saying that both fighters ducked each other. Where have I posted that Wilder did not pass on a $100 million offer and what’s this “bet on himself” ? Thanks for your reply .

Wilder wanted to go Lineal which would have elevated his title reign above alphabet status & given him leverage in negotiations with AJ for Undisputed.

That was the right move at the time but unfortunately for him, he wasn't good enough to pull it off. Close, but no cigar.

It’d be interesting where Fury would sit if Wilder did fight AJ instead, potentially Fury could just be a ranked guy, Fury built his image off the Wilder fights.

I just googled "Wilder V AJ 100m" and the third result on Google was this thread. :risas3:

I seriously have no idea where the 100m number is coming from. My memory is pretty good and I distinctly remember all the talk being of a 50m offer for one fight. It doesn't really matter, I don't believe there was ever anything concrete offered or arranged between these 2 and that's why the reported deals and offers are constantly changing.

I don't see where AJ ever ducked Wilder tbh. He came to US to showcase himself...but lost bad lol. After that he was always in better fights than Wilder.

Following Wilder's infamous rejection of ~$100-120M Ellerbe @ellerbe famously gave us this (nonsense/bs) gem:

The deal rumored to have been offered to Wilder was a four-fight $120 million deal that would have seen two of those fights be against rival and former unified world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

“He is in the driver’s seat. He put the onus on himself and he is betting on himself. You can never go wrong with that because you put it in your hands and in your control,” Ellerbe stated as Wilder makes his debut on Fox Sports Pay-Per-View against Ortiz from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In the link you posted, the following tweet insinuated that it was indeed not a real offer.
