I’ve noticed before that he has kind of weird body language during fights… kind of like lapses in concentration or he almost seems like he doesn’t want to be there. Watch his fight against Zhang for example. He even partly turns his back on Zhang a couple times and almost looks likes he’s about to just walk out of the ring. It might be some weird mechanism his body just goes into when he’s really tired.
He just gassed. That and the flagrant headbutting by Dubois forced the stoppage. Hrgovic has decent power. Dubois kept stepping just far enough back to avoid the big bombs. Hrgovic was clearly overconfident and didn't fight a good fight.
i thought he showed lack of heart. and its the second time he shows me that. i dont think hes champion material. daniel surprised me with his heart, which has also been previously questioned. Never lost his resolve, straight soldier. could become champion material if he keeps progressing.
He was never this incredibly skilled boxer some people made him out to be. He really only had one way of fighting his entire career, lead hand to set up the right hand over and over again. No head movement, always the one on the front foot, walking down his opponent, he's 100% all offence and no defence, so of course when up against an opponent like Dubois who was going to go right at him it was going to end up just trading big bombs with Dubois. He's never been a guy to box on the back foot, he doesn't counter, just because he's tall and fights from range, it doesn't make him a skilled out boxer. People seemed to put him in that category just because of this. But in reality he's very similar in style to Dubois, who also comes forward behind a jab to set up big right hands. Difference is Dubois after losses due to being thrown in at a much higher level than Hrgovic has, has learned to move his head a little, to add some variety to his offence and most importantly, bite down and grind out a win needed to. He also clearly underestimated Dubois like a lot of us did. Nobody thought Dubois could take all those right hands but sometimes that happens when you step up in class the guys that folded so easily before at this higher level just take your shots and walk you down. Had Hrgovic been more thoroughly tested on the way up they may have found this out earlier and tried to do things differently but of course Hrgovic just feasted on weak opposition except for Zhang.
