I'm thinking Norton is a bad matchup for Usyk,an excellent jabber and body puncher Kenny would be in Usyk's face all night. My reservation is can he handle a southpaw?
Norton style was bad for backfooted boxers who couldn't adjust Usyk has shown he can fight both on the front and back foot plus he's a southpaw and Norton stance isn't designed for southpaw. Usyk figures him out and stops him late.
I think Norton matches up well vs Usyk he's a good body puncher well conditioned to go into the later rounds vs Usyk and is poison for boxer types. And whilst Usyk has respectable power he's not a concussive hitter i mean Norton did go 50+ rounds taking Holmes, Ali's, best who are of similar size to Usyk and are on the same level regarding power. Overall i think it's a very competitive fight Usyk has the skills and stamina to outlast the giants of now, but Norton was one of the best conditioned Heavyweights of all time who could comfortably go 15 rounds. I think it would be a close decision either way.
The thing about pitting Usyk in any fantasy heavyweight bout is that you aren't getting prime Usyk. The champ was already on the back side of his prime when he became a modern day heavyweight. So I am going to go with prime cruiserweight Usyk against Norton of the first two Ali fights. Usyk weighed just under 200 pounds while Norton was between 205 and 210. While a bit inconsistent, Norton was a very good fighter. The thing is that, other than a win over the broken jaw impaired Ali, he lost to every great fighter he faced. Usyk is a great fighter and I can see his style befuddling Kenny. I will go with Usyk by decision, either eight rounds to four or ten rounds to five.
Uysk is amazing. He throws punches at angles that I have never seen before. And it's not like Norton hurts him. Still Kenny is one of the few that could keep up that pace. Good fight.
Usyk has been scaled at 207-208 when he steps into the ring after making 200. They'd be very similar i think.
Good match up. I envisage a good fight with Ken pulling out a close, yet clear, decision. An experienced trainer such as Eddie Futch would show Norton how to deal with Usyk's southpaw stance.
