Joseph Parker has been on the end of many criticisms over the years, many of which I have thrown his way. On reflection, and after watching an analysis on this heavyweight eras top 5, I now find myself agreeing that he is the 4th best of this era.

I know! Unthinkable. But that’s where I’m at.

He’s a legit former champion with a solid resume.

    Thoughts?

    Completely agree.

For me Usyk is clear number 1 and Parker is clearly number 4.

I don't think AJ or Fury really separated themselves from each other.

Imho AJ's loss to Andy Ruiz kind of separated AJ and Fury though.
Although I think AJ has a better resume than Fury.

When you look at the era as a whole, between Wlad and Usyk, they pretty much split it between them. AJ lost to Ruiz but then avenged it and remained champ until Usyk beat him.

Fury drew with Wilder but then avenged it and remained champ until Usyk beat him.

AJ has a comparable resume to Fury and has done better against the same opponents.

I really don't think there's anything separating them, and a fight between them at Wembley would be huge.

Agreed. Nobody has a better case for 4th than Parker.

AJ has never been a lineal champion, and it's a big question if he ever will be.

RJJ was never lineal at LHW and he never was. DM was a lineal champ.

I know who I consider to have been the better LHW.

prime wilder would probs be 4th but with his sudden fall off yea you got no choice but to put parker 4th now.

The problem Wilder has is that it’s kind of an “on reflection” analysis. Looking back over their careers so far, Parker looks like the better bet for 4th place. And he still has time to improve and/or solidify his status.

sure, we can look at a given moment, and say Wilder was No2 and Parker was No7, but overall Parker comes out on top between those 2.

I think he’ll seriously struggle to bridge the gap from 4th to 3rd though.

Right now he's a lock in for the 4th spot of this era. Someone else is going to have to go on a really good run to knock him off the 4th spot and beat one of the guys above him or beat him.

When folk mention this era....are we talking the last year or something?? Parker defeated a washed up Wilder to rescue his career. Lost to AJ and Whyte. If he is considered 4th best in the last 12 years with the resume he has then it tells ya how poor it has been imo

Hes top 4 atm based on his resume although he has suffered some losses to Whyte, Joyce, so it's a bit iffy ranking him based on that.

But I don't see anyone else that has the resume to be number 4 so I think 4 for Parker is about right although that could all change in a year or 2.

If a mediocre fighter like Parker is the 4th best fighter of this era, that shows you just how bad this era is. Parker might be able to give somewhat respectable losing efforts in previous eras, bit, he would never be a champion.
