--Miraculously was healed from his injuries only AFTER his mandatory, Povetkin, announced he would fight buffet King Stiverne.
--Now is cleared to come back in the Spring, but will likely choose another scrub like Wawryck or Bronco Billy as defense and call it a necessary "tune up".
-- WBC grants Wilder an unprecedented 5TH voluntary defense, and announces he will likely fight the total can Wawryck in the Spring who was spanked in 3 by his mandatory.
--Now his mandatory Povetkin, destroyed in Tyson-esque style, the French pastry chef Duhaupas, the guy who busted up Wilder and took all his "power" shots no problem, in fewer rounds than Wilder.
--Wawrzyk fight off, Team Wilder currently searching the Buffet and Steak Houses of Alabama for his next opponent.

He's past prime for sure but it's not like he's completely shot, say like Chisora.

There was a time when 30 athletes performance levels would start to drop but modern training methods have extended fighters peak years beyond 30. Simply because we can attain levels of physical performance previously not reached but it takes time to reach that higher level of physical capacity, so some won't even peak until they near 30 or even after 30 and I'd say that's true for most heavyweights. Peak years for heavyweights now seem between 30-35. So Wilder at 38 is only a few years past his best and lets be clear he got beat by a 41 year old, so I doubt age had much to do with the loss to Zhang.

Wilder's 10 (ten) title defenses will be remembered as a great blot on professional boxing. It's not Wilder's fault at all.
If Wilder had defended the WBC belt against: White, Parker, Andy Ruiz... it would not have been a stain on professional boxing, and there would not have been 10 (ten) title defenses.

Whyte is nobody, just talk and hype from YouTube channels.

Everyone loves and hypes wlad these days, but I remember at the time everyone hated him saying he’s boring and fights nobody. After all his best win was pov.

Years long WBC champ and highlight real KO's. Wins over some decent second tier HWs (Stiverne, Ortiz) and a Fury trilogy where he showed a lot of grit to stay in it or go out on his shield. Bronze medallist. He's in the conversation about devastating punchers due to a unique style based on velocity, more than anything else. Years of cherry picking and beating up low level opposition, lame excuses, and a lot of missed opportunities to enhance his legacy. Made good money, somewhat obnoxious extroverted persona.

That's pretty much telling it as it is IMO.

It's a legacy that will keep him noted, but not one that will get him into the historical greats conversation.

TBH Whyte was chasing the Wilder fight hard pre the Fury come back, if Whyte got that fight I have no doubt he would have beat Wilder twice by KO and he'd be sitting pretty.

Fury just lucked out he was the first that was any good to get the shot at him.
