Unless Vergil's power is otherworldly at 154, it's certainly possible. Stylistically, I think this is a harder match for him than Tim was.

The best opponent Ortiz could have picked. This card from top to bottom is filled with evenly matched fights.

Bohachuk did get stopped with a well timed left hook. Perhaps Ortiz might have the power to stop him as well.

The reason why I’m confident in picking Ortiz by KO.

Absolutely and Ortiz could very well win by stoppage, but Mendoza has a pretty goddamn good left hook as well, and it didn't do him a lot of good against Bohachuk.

I probably will too, and I certainly hope he does. But this isn't a blown up glass jawed Light Welterweight we're talking about here. This is a full blown Light Middleweight with a 2 inch height advantage and a 3 inch reach advantage, who hits almost as hard as Ortiz does. God forbid he stuns Ortiz like Kavaliauskas did, because Bohachuk has the killer instincts and accurate punch placement to finish him.

I just don’t see much with Bohachuk tbh. He comes off as big, lumbering, and hittable. Obviously a strong physical force in the ring, but I can’t see anything other than Ortiz piecing him up. I’m really excited for it though.

I like the match up. I haven't been real high on Vergil Ortiz since the Mo Hooker fight. Ortiz is marketed as one of the big punchers at 147/54, yet he was trading with Mo Hooker who was a skinny 140 pounder trying to move up to welterweight. Had Mo not have had his shoulder injury during the fight, who knows if they would have went the distance. We'll ignore that he and his promoter OPENLY avoided the Crawford fight after getting in front of a camera claiming Ortiz was the neutralizer to Crawford.

This match up is intriguing. I want to see how Bohachuk deals with someone else coming downhill with their punches. I also want to see Vergil respond to someone trying to bring the fight to his doorstep with legit power.

Well if he can’t beat Bohachuk, he sure as hell ain’t beating Tszyu or Crawford.

I suspect Ortiz is a hypejob. This will teach us a lot.

People are taking for granted that this one will be on the Riyadh Season LA card in early August, but I think this is not the case. A date and a venue has yet to be set, so this one will most surely headline its own card, with the Saudis taking no part on it.

Ortiz defense has a lot of holes in it. Definitely something he would want to focus on going into this match up. Hopefully he can put on a performance that will take his name out of the "hype factor" category that Oscar has place him in and we actually see that he is a legit talent worthy of being placed amongst the top talent in the sport today.

lubin has an awful glass jaw and vergil ortiz wins by knockout. this fight is more interesting as instead of fighting a glass jawed mammal who will get on his bike and merely try to live, hes gonna fight another hard puncher. i think it will be a hard fight like kavaliauskas was for ortiz

Good fight, bohachuk is arguably a top 5 fighter at 154. And has a 100% ko
