    Pernell Whitaker v. Azumah Nelson

Whitaker as he was apt to do totally shut down his ATG opponent's offense.

Completely agree. Masterclass from Lewis that I've never watched since and likely never will.

Monzon is without question an ATG and *maybe* the greatest middleweight ever, but I find him tiresome to watch. It’s not that there isn’t skill and greatness in what he does, it just feels like letting the air out of all four tires when I watch more than a few rounds on end.

Mike Tyson is certainly regarded as an ATG by some and without getting into that, his fights vs. Bonecrusher and Tony Tucker could cure insomnia and put No Doz out of business.

Since Wlad is now considered an ATG somehow, I would nominate him as the GOAT of boring boxing.

While others fighters have maybe one or two boring bouts, Wlad's career is a massive snoozefest, specially after Steward got his hands on him.
Wlad's robotic safety-first, zero risk, keep-distance, grab and clinch style would put an owl to sleep...

But it was as far from ATG performance as anyone can imagine

Wlad Klit vs one of these guys, I forget which one it was ....either Sultan Ibragimov or that Chagaev guy. Wlad's opponent was a lefty and they kept waving their jags at each other, not trying anything else.

A good number of FMJ’s fights were unwatchable.

Probably Ibragimov, since Wlad beat down & stopped Chagaev IIRC.

The Ibragimov fight went the distance & resulted in this epic interview w/ a (probably slightly inebriated) Bert Sugar:

Wlad had some boring ass fights, that's true, but at least most of them ended in the knockout and he had power to make it exciting in the sense, that you waited for him to land that steel hammer right hand.

I would argue Vitali's fights were muuuch more boring. He didn't look good in the ring himself, he was stiff, with awful mechanics, that awful pawing jab and little power to his right hand + he was usually fighting subpar competition. Nothing interesting about that.

Really? I always thought Vitali's fights were much better he actually fought a more volume heavy style and usually knocked his opponent by beating them up till they couldn't continue

I recently been rewatching some of his fights, especially from his second reign. Can't find one exciting fight there. Maybe Chisora, I guess.

I thought the Sam Peters fight was fun and so was the Adamek fight Briggs was a good fight to watch if you love beatdowns one of the worst beatdowns I've ever seen.
