One of the best questions ever asked to definitely answer who the best fighter was over the last 50 years. At their best, I pick Liston in a nip and tuck fight. The Version that fought Ali loses a split decision. I would give a leg to watch either.
It's ironic that Holy was often accused of being "too small" for a HW of his era, yet he was the same size or even slightly bigger than Liston, who was considered a monster for his era. What a difference 30 years makes. Anyway, I like Holy's all-around speed & versatility to win out over Liston.
I’ll give it to OP for having a one-track mind. All Liston all the time. Evander wins by a fair margin over the distance.
Think Liston was better than Bowe w a similar skill set. Only Liston had better stamina. Idk how Liston handles Holyfield’s in fighting and occasional head butt. Will he lose his cool? Will Holyfield’s chin hold up? When he was hurt by Bowe or Foreman or Lewis they didn’t have the stamina that Liston had, I think if Holy gets caught and hurt he’s in trouble. But then again I have a hard time seeing a prime Holy being knocked out …I think head first fighters are toast for Liston. You’d be better to be a tall fighter like Wlad or runner like Holmes and Ali. Even Marciano and Tua comes in off the center line. They have better shots imo. My pick Liston by UD
This is me, too. I think Holy could make it really close if he keeps a lid on it. But yeah, Liston UD. I think Liston would lose at least 1 out of 3, though.
Angelo Dundee once said that if Liston met Holyfield, he would crush Evander like a little bug. Maybe he exaggerated but... I can't deny it. Liston UD
I think Bowe may have had a better right hand & uppercut than Liston. Regardless, Liston wouldn't have enjoyed the size advantage over Holy that Bowe had.
Liston will force Holyfield to engage in a fight, Evander ain't exactly a mover is he? Then Evander gets hurt, dropped then stopped.
