How Would Canelo s career look if he'd being in and around the 1980 s guys.
    Such as..
    Hagler
    SRL
    Duran
    Hearns
    McCallum
From middle to lightheavy back then who are the men he beats and the ones he loses to??

Loses to Hagler and SRL at MW, loses to Duran at LMW, probably even at MW considering how well Duran fared there against Hagler who was superior to Canelo. Hearns is the only guy from this list whom Canelo would have a chance to stop, but I wouldn't bet on it. Against McCallum I think he would get a gift decision

It would be interesting to see him against those guys, maybe against Julian Jackson and Nunn too.
Yes imo he'd lose to Hagler and Leonard for sure.
Duran, depends which Roberto turns up.
Hearns could possibly win but I see him also ahead then getting kod.
McCallum, I think perhaps a series of 3 he'd get at least one win.

I think Nunn would be stylistic nightmare for Canelo and would beat him so bad that even Canelo's pocket judges wouldn't be able to rob him. I'd favor Canelo to stop Jackson though

    Yes agree on both there.
Nunn 1988 version whips his ass.
Jackson always in with a shot of course but more likely Canelo stops him.

Canelo would have fit right into the mix in the 80s. His janky footwork wouldn’t be out of place and with no VADA testing and Don King around he would be an even bigger star than he is today. Canelo probably beats them all because he would wait them out until they were all on the downswing probably.

Nunn and Kalambay win wide decisions against Canelo.

IMO, he loses to Hagler, Leonard, & McCallum but beats Duran & Hearns @ 160 (but likely loses if those fights were @154).

He hasn't achieved enough at LHW today to be favored over the monsters that topped the division back then (i.e.: Spinks, Qawi, Saad, or even Marvin Johnson).

However, he would dominate 168 even easier than he does today, since that division was **** poor when it debuted.

Maybe he beats an unmotivated Duran at 160. No way the lead-footed Alvarez gets past the jab of Hearns and I’m not sure that Hearns wouldn’t crack his chin at 160 or below.

I’m confident that Alvarez would have been a noteworthy fighter with a good career in any era including the 80s. Would I favor him against the men listed above ? Probably not. But it’s not impossible that he might have upset one or two of them
