Would David Tua Have KO'd/TKO'd Everybody Wilder Has?

Of course he would have... assuming he landed a hook. Not everyone is as susceptible to eating different shots, however. It's conceivable somebody could be an inevitable long right hand victim but never be touched by a hook from somebody of Tua's proportions over twelve rounds.

A 37-38 year old Tua was going the distance with a number of nobodies much worst than Helenius.

Tua also had a solid right - see the right hook he landed vs Moorer.

 

Not necessarily. Tua punched harder than Wilder and had better technique, but he was also as short as Gimli and flat footed to boot. Anyone that fought tall and could keep him on the end of their jab could potentially have taken him the distance.

Wilder didn't punch as hard but he was much springier on his feet and much more rangy, which allowed him to land his shots a lot easier at distance. Tua was forced to literally leap at opponents to land his left, and more often than not needed to work his way in.

Because then it'd just make for another one of those one sided polls. Prime Tua v the guys who Wilder all fought, I guess we're talking the time Wilder fought them too which makes it even more unfair seeing as few were in their prime.

 

It's not like Tua didn't struggle and go the distance even early in his career when in great shape. Think one of their names was Jeff Wooden, a defensively responsible heavyweight who also fought Byrd. I think.

 

Tua gets a bit overrated I've seen people even make comparisons to Tyson which is baffling to me Tyson was on a different level to Tua.

Don't get me wrong Tua had a great chin and lethal power but he also got outboxed for large periods in fights.

Jeff Wooden a mediocre opponent took Tua the distance in a close fight, Rahman outboxed Tua twice, Maskaev was schooling Tua until Tua caught up with him in the 11th.

But saying all that still the only fighters who beat him were Byrd ultra slick defensive Southpaw, ATG Lewis who fought a cautious fight, and Ibeabuchi was a great talent who had incredible workrate and a very solid chin.

Does anyone of Wilder's KO victims have good chins ? Most of them were quite chinny TBH. I think a few of Wilder's opposition could outbox Tua but I do see Tua catching up to them eventually a bit like Wilder did.

 

Tua was just as much of a one trick pony as Wilder is.

 

All though they couldn't be more physically different I believe you're right. Both were either a knockout or a strike out.
