Hi Flo. As was mentioned a while ago, a very good movie depicting the life of Ross, both in boxing and his war career, plus his struggle with drugs was " ****** on my Back " the lead was played by Cameron Mitchell, who would later play Buck in the television series The High Chaparral check it out buddy, stay safe , chat soon.
I would love to see a movie about the 1980s greats Leonard, Hearns, Duran and Hagler with Benitez and Holmes and all the other nuances in it. Someone could make a good movie out of the stories and clear up some issues like did Leonard duck Pryor, which I don't see how he would have.
Joe Frazier, he's the biggest HW from the golden age yet to have a movie. There have been documentaries on FOTC and Manila, but something that spans from his childhood to the Olympics then to the major fights of his career culminating with his statue being displayed in Philly has the makings of a great movie. Stallone actually reached out to Frazier's family to try to get a movie made, but nothing has come out of it.
Tom Sharkey. A crazy life full of ship wrecks, wild fights, controversy, cameos of Wyatt Earp and other greats like John L., Fitz, Jeffries, etc. Joey Gans. I just feel he deserves way more credit and recognition. And he had insane moments in his life (40+ round title fight), battle royales, fighting and winning against guys with only one working lung, etc.
Emile Griffiths story reads like a movie that could do well in these more enlightened, tolerant times.
It's probably going to sound weird, but I would dedicate the movie to Tommy "Duke" Morrison. He still has Foreman on his resume, and he also fought Lewis. His atypical career should be portrayed as authentically as possible. Sad story. This content is protected
