I do appreciate and like your answer &
I hear what your saying but your hypothesis seems to be built around the betting.
Wouldn't all that be cancelled if the betting company publicly announced the irregular betting patterns and that all bets were cancelled.
Even if it went in the rd that had been bet on no one would benefit.
Same for any other partys other than the fighters if they were unaware and not participating in the scam. No one would benefit.
Has this ever happened in any other sport?
If there was unusual betting patterns in the euro finals I'm sure they wouldn't call them off.
Also this leaves the gates open for anyone who wants to sabotage any sporting or boxing events just to scree someone's career.

Irregular usually means a ridiculous amount of money. If you look back to Allen vs Darch, money was getting lumped on at under evens on Round 3 on the Exchange close to the fight after betting had been suspended with the main bookmakers as they knew something was up. I'm sure it was something extremely out the ordinary.

You'd think Kane is telling the truth here, if not adding a libel case really wouldn't be sensible.

    He is desperate.

    The money doesn't ever lie.

If money was being put on Baker to be stopped in a particular round, it is pretty conclusive.

Five of the fighter's mates having a couple of hundred quid each on their guy on what he fancies to be the result shouldn't be enough to trigger what's happened here. It should take more than that as if it doesn't then stop taking bets on smaller events.

I'm sick of gambling being sporting bodies chief concern.

I don't think Kane Baker would get involved in something like this, he's invested his money well and it looks like him and his girl are set up well for the future.

It all relative , if the money bet on a small event is 5 or 10 times what is expected then how much that is isn't really relevant especially if its on very similar outcomes, this would then likely trigger irregular betting concerns, it is then escalated and looked at in much more depth.

Unlikely these extra details get looked at in to in time for the fight though so the promoter and any innocent fighter involved are in a no win situation really , pull the fight and lose out on a fight on the card and the fighter his purse etc or let the fight go ahead and sustain reputational damage if the news gets out even if there wasn't anything dodgy going on in the first place.

He also said in the same interview that maybe SJ was right and that maybe he'll have to change the fighters contracts in future to allow him to pull a fight in certain circumstances, if so this would surely be one of those circumstances.

Who is to say what's expected? The bookies want it all their own way and have to much sway over professional sports. If they think something's up then publicly suspend betting and suspicious accounts. Simple. They should have absolutely no influence on whether or not a fight goes ahead.

With the publicity that would surround the above steps it's most likely people would cancel the fix anyway.
