Oleksandr Usyk is vacating his IBF title!

I wonder if this is because the rematch was pushed back to December?

IIRC the IBF relaxed the mandatory for Usyk but the statement read October was the mandatory date, so maybe IBF were still going to enforce it before the rematch?

Would seem very strange for Usyk to vacate if not forced to!

 

Usyks not fighting Aj after Fury he's moving down for Opetaia so this is fine

 

FFS. It took forever to get all four belts under one person and now that doesn't even last for two months.

 

Clever on Usyks part,Fury if he were to win the rematch would not be Undisputed and by gifting the IBF belt to Dubois who is fighting Joshua, who both he has incidentally beaten soundly puts himself in a very good position to be a two time Undisputed Champion. Well played

 

Does it really matter?

Usyk is undisputed in the minds of everyone who recognise he's clearly #1 in the world.

You don't need to be undisputed to be recognise as #1. Whoever wins the IBF now would get slapped by Usyk.

If It's AJ vs Dubois Usyk has already outclassed both.

Usyk has nothing to prove.

 

Not to mention a bigger money fight as well. But if Fury beats Usyk, he’s got a huge money fight as well for undisputed.

 

The winner AJ v Dubois winner will be the very definition of a paper champ.

 

And so Evander remains the last reigning undisputed champion the heavyweight division has seen.

I reckon we just kick the IBF out of the four. **** em. Good for them, sticking to their rules. Their rules also saw Glaz-Martin for their title, should reflect the value of this particular set of rules. Gave us the worst HW title fight in history and stripped of us undisputed. Great rules boys.

 

TBH honest if I was Usyk I would tell the sanctioning bodies I'm not paying a penny and if they don't like it they can have their belts back; regardless of who holds the belts everyone knows who the real champion is.

 

This smells like Usyk and manager doing a special greedy-belly phonecall with Hearn to set up a money fight after Fury.
The AJ-Dubious fight 'builds hype' for it and then Usyk thinks he'll just pick the belt up again in a massive payday.
This could backfire massively.

Usyk is doing some disappointing things lately.

 

I think Usyk is playing a psychological blinder by doing this, playing with Furys mind, "Yeah i'll fight you in rematch but not for all the belts", oh lets use a Fury phrase, Usyk will be the "Lineal" undisputed champion (yeah i know no such thing exists)

Mr Usyk has Furys beating both in and outside the squared circle.

 

He probably got paid a couple of millions to vacate it
