Janibek Alimkhanuky, the current unified MW champion, has called out Canelo Alvarez for a fight for the undisputed SMW titles (like a lot of guys have). Now, of course this fight won’t happen because Janibek doesn’t really sell, isn’t a big name, and isn’t a mandatory at 168. But, if it did, then I think I’d give Janibek the biggest chance of beating Canelo out of anybody from 154 to 168. We all know how problematic the last Kazakhstani MW was for Canelo, and we know how he struggles with slick outboxers/counterpunchers (Floyd, Lara, Bivol). Janibek just has a better style to beat Canelo than Benavidez does imo, so would be a bigger threat on the extremely unlikely chance this fight were made.

    Benavidez, Mbilli, Crawford..

And Oleksandr Khyzhniak when he turns pro at 168 after the Olympics this summer, and is fast tracked

I like Janibek but he is hittable. I feel that Canelo is far more powerful and that he might wreck him in the exchanges. God knows I hope I'm wrong here.

Still think Benavidez but Janibek could well be after. Not much left at 160/168 for Canelo to deal with tbh.

I agree but he’s certainly tightened up his defence recently. His chin is pretty good as well from what I’ve seen. Canelo’s got good power but he’s not the KO machine that he used to be, and I think Janibek is smart enough to not get drawn into a firefight with Canelo when could keep the fight to the outside and outbox Canelo.
