What boxer did you think was invincible but ended up losing?

I think pre-prison Tyson is as close to that kind of boxer as it gets. I was only a kid at the time but I think I still understand why it was next to impossible to imagine him losing. I dont think that, let's say, Joe Frazier or Ali ever had that same 'aura', even when unbeaten.

Just seeing him that fast, powerful, accurate, technically sound, defensively responsible and ferocious with deadly determination was unlike anything available to view before, you just couldn't picture anybody doing enough to actually win.

I knew he had his flaws and that he relied too much on his power. But I did not expect anyone to beat him at the time, regardless of weight. But not only did Rigo dominate him, he ended up at 126lbs where he looked like a shadow of his former self.

To see him not able to turn the screwdriver made me sad...but it was almost looking like Usyk was in that position. We'll see how the rematch goes. Both are clearly at their end and no shame to losing to one another. Clearly miles ahead of the rest in terms of boxing ability and brains.

 

I struggle to think of a better example than prime 88 Mike Tyson. He wasn't just the top dog in the HWs by some distance, he was the P4P number one.

His opponents who were champions to P4P fighters were terrified of him.

 

- Chayaphon Moonsri "Wanheng Menayothin" but his 2 defeats against Panya Pradabsri he was clearly robbed, he only lose against Niyomtrong "Knockout CP Freshmart".

- Nordine Oubaali I was thinking he will lose in Bantamweight at this moment only against Naoya Inoue.. but when he meet Nonito Donaire he was absolutely destroyed a total mismatch...


- Daigo Higa I think nobody will said that he will lose against Cristofer Rosales, almost everyone thinking at this moment that he will unify the Flyweight. At this moment Higa was like Mike Tyson in the past in the Flyweight he was so powerful and skilled. I think he can beat Yoshiki Takei in september and become a world champion in Bantamweight, but he have no chance against the others japanese champions for a unification in Bantamweight.


- Jarrett Hurd when he loose against Julian Williams, it was a big upset for me... he was undefeated, the unify world champions and he beats Lara, Trout, Tony Harrison. It was very sad that his reign was very short like that. Because he is pretty charismatic and skilled at this moment of his career and the fact that he was so big for the Super Welter was really amazing and a big enterainment for me. I still watch him but he is a shadow now, his body is too weak because of the cutting and he have no motivation in Middleweight like his rivals Julian Williams & Jeison Rosario.

 

From things I watched live, I couldnt believe Pac got stopped by Jmm. Even when he was roided up it was never a possibility.

Wlad getting outboxed wasnt one either. He could be stopped but not outboxed.

Aj getting beat up and stopped by mexican homer simpson was a huge shock as well after he droped him and it looked like an easy ko.

 

Tyson of course, and early in his career, De La Hoya.

 

Never though Tyson was unbeatable but thought the young Foreman was
