I read you EXACTLY as you wrote it. You didn’t write it as you’re now claiming to have written it. Also, why go by surnames but then opt for “Howard” instead of “King”? I’ll tell you why - because you don’t have a clue - and you’re certainly not taking the strong “hint” that everyone has already gathered this FACT. NRN
You're so butthurt everyone picked Holmes to beat your hero, you're trying your best but you can't do anything to make facts that are valid and those are that Holmes beat better people, case closed.
This is a new one. Liston cleaned out the division comprehensively, only missing out on Ingo who wouldn't go near him. Who are these "best opponents" you're referring to?
If Larry just stuck to boxing in a 15 round fight, he’d probably win 12-3. Because Sonny had a hard time against anyone out boxing him. It would probably be closer than that though, because Larry liked to get aggressive against pitchers, then get knocked down, then box.Solid decision going to Holmes then, maybe more like 9-6, but Sonny would have a 10-8 round in the fight.
Cleaned divison of cans, LHws and glass chinned fighters, Holmes cleaned divison of HWs who were real hws and not tomato cans. Holmes past his prime fought prime Tyson,Mercer,Holyfield,McCall while Listom avoided good fighters and fought tomato cans instead.
Bonavena,Chuvalo,Quarry,Ellis,Mac Foster,Frazier,Terrel...how Martin and Chuck Wepner are better than those?
1. Those fighters were not part of Liston's era, but rather the following one. 2. Liston didn't avoid any of those men and in fact signed to fight Chuvalo when he died, and was trying to get a title shot against Frazier 3. Pretty rich, these qualify as ducks but Holmes outright saying he's not fighting his top contenders, and only going for soft touches in second half of his reign, doesn't qualify. You're a joke.
As you know Swag I'm a big fan of Holmes but it's quite well known Holmes never fought a number 1 contender and avoided Page, Thomas. I do like Holmes alot and a few of his fights are in my top 10 favourite Heavyweight fights of all time. Plus I do give Holmes credit for being an active champion and he did fight his fair share of ranked contenders which I give him credit for. But Holmes certainly wasn't taking on the most dangerous contenders in the last 2 or 3 years of his reign. And he did leave a few question mark's over his reign.......avoided his mandatory Page, never fought number 1 contender, never unified.
Nope, they were there 1966-1970 when Liston was still fighting and he still fought Wepner and Martin. Yes he did, at the end of his carrer he wanted to face Chuvalo so it would look like he atleast fought someone. He avoided many fighters and they even proved here on this forum that he wanted no part of Quarry. Liston didn't want no part of prime Frazier 1970 even if you can't take that as his diehard fan. You're joke, Holmes fought best people of his era while Liston didn't and Holmes past his prime faced again best fighters like Holyfield,Tyson,McCall and Mercer while Liston at that age fought tomato cans.
You Liston paroles can't take facts, this forum should be called Just Liston Fans, stupid people who believe he could beat even Ali in his prime and that he's unbeatable against anyone which is pathetic.
Iv fought in wars against this forum to defend Liston. If you think he's overrated you're absurd. "stupid people who believe he could beat even Ali in his prime" First fight odds were 7-1 and second were 13-10 so seems like a lot of professional boxing writers were such "Stupid people" oh and btw the poll is Larry KO 6 vote(s) 14.3% Larry decision 25 vote(s) 59.5% Sonny KO 8 vote(s) 19.0% Sonny decision 3 vote(s) 7.1% just for the record
Because there are still smart people here with brain unlike you, puggy and swag that are not realistic fans other than idolizing someone based on a myth against tomato cans.
