No. 6 on your list - Thachtana Luangphon "Chainoi 'Rock Man' Worawut" - what are his chances against Sam Goodman on Wednesday night? Can he bang?
Honestly I believe in him against Goodman but he has a serious leg injury that ended his Muay Thai career and he's not a puncher. However he is courageous I see him beating Sam Goodman by majority decision, but I see him having no chance against Naoya Inoue. Chainoi Worawut have a big right hand and a good left hook.
Thailand has produced some great fighters over the years. Fighters that the world has never really got to see. I remember going out of my way one time to watch Pongsaklek Wonjongkam (I think I got the spelling right without looking it up) b/c Vic Darchinyan, who I was a big fan of at the time, had won a world title at Flyweight & I wanted to watch one of the other Flyweight world champions in action. He was really good. Physically strong for the weight, fast & skilful. I think it was against Hussein Hussein, another Australian fighter. Wonjongkam was a P4P level guy I thought. It made me realise what boxing fans around the world were missing out on by not knowing the Thai fighters. Will watch with interest when their #1 fights here against Alex Winwood.
Thailand have the 6th Highest amount of current pro boxers. (as of 8th July 2024) 1. Mexico 3380 2. USA 3304 3. Japan 1274 4. United Kingdom 1068 5. Argentina 810 6. Thailand 791 7. Philippines 745 8. Colombia 716 9. India 654 10. Venezuela 653 Yet only have one current world world champion. And that's at minimumweight were there is the lowest number of boxers. And he hasn't fought for two years. I think Thailand are very poor at boxing, at the moment.
With One championship most of boxers from Thailand don't go to Western Boxing and just stay at Muay Thai now.
