Fight went like I expected, I was going to bet on a mid fight KO but there was no money to be made with those odds. To me it seemed obvious from the git go that Boots wanted to get him outta there and fought like it. While I was watching this I thought of Bud and Boots fighting at 154 maybe this December. Crawford would be 37 and Boots is 10 years younger and to me visibly stronger and quicker so I think this would be a huge challenge for Bud .With the 147 lb class not looking that great right now this would be the biggest fight to be made for huge money for the moment at 147-154 . Will it happen? Everyone knows how hard big fights are to make so I wouldn't hold my breath.
Avanesyan seemed to have an easier time landing shots on Boots than he did on Crawford. Sometimes Ennis stays in the pocket exchanging a second or two longer than he should, the question is can anyone take advantage?
I will be totally honest he did not impress me at all. This was his time to shine, and he didn’t might have been nerves. he was getting hit way too much. I have questions about him now.
What is the Boot fans obsession w Bud Crawford? The fight was offered about a year half ago and Boots didnt take it. Jaron wound up fighting Karen instead which wasnt really a comparable fight...dont know why team Ennis passed up. I don't, he's the real deal. He simply had no respect for anything Avanesyan was throwing at him and he went out looking to KO him...instead of letting the knockout come
He had all the physical advantages so I don't think it told us much, it will be a different kettle of fish when he's in with someone his own size who can punch.
His last 3 fights he’s been hit a lot when he shouldn’t for someone with his talent that’s a red flag and he’s what 27 with 30+fights so no excuses , I like boots but if he’s going to be the second coming he needs to tighten up that D.
Didn’t expect Ava to quit on his stool tbh. I thought for the most part it was a scrappy fight, a lot of holding….a lot of inside fighting whilst holding. Offensively Boots looks good in spells but I was surprised how often Ava was catching him on the ropes, could’ve just been inactivity playing a part.
Ennis had a full training camp and Avanesayan got 4 weeks to train coming in as the late replacement. The accidental low blow took most of the fight out of Avanesayan. That he managed to fight as well as he did after taking a direct, extremely painful low blow says a lot about his character. I'm not sure why anyone is comparing the performances of Crawford and Ennis against Avanesayan. Avanesayan got a full camp for the Bud fight. And he didn't get starched with a low blow early in the fight.
Ennis had the size and power advantage over Avanesaysn, who landed some solid shots but just doesn’t have the power to make them meaningful. The blatant low blow took the air outta David’s balloons but he still gave it a good go, he was just outclassed.
