Jacobs Charlo Plant/Saunders Golovkin II Cotto Mosley Those are mainly fights where the opponent pushed Canelo enough for him to show all of his best attributes, with the exception of Charlo. Charlo didn´t push Canelo but Canelo showed more against Charlo than he did against Chavez Jr.
I was hoping for more young Canelo picks honestly. Ever since GGG 2 he’s been fighting like an old man imo. He looked far more energetic and fierce when he was at 154. He was more controlled, he did more with his feints, footwork, and head movement, wasn’t afraid to throw combinations, and could step on the gas when he wanted to. He’s not got that dawg in him anymore. He looked better against the likes of Rhodes, Baldomir, and Kirkland than he’s ever done at 168 imo.
I'd probably say Callum Smith, made relatively lightwork of a guy that'd recently won the super series in his prime.
I have to go with GGG 2, thats the fight that took Canelo to another level. Once he realized he could stand and trade with GGG, he realized he can stand and trade with anybody. That being said, i thought GGG pulled it out by at least a couple points. It was an absolute classic and i think he took something from GGG that night. I also thought he looked real sharp vs Jacobs who was still prime. He was a monster against the 6 foot 3 ring mag champ Callum smith, One last thought, i always thought that Benevidez would win against Canelo, but i was thinking, maybe if he could replicate that 2nd GGG fight against Benavidez, back him up and maintain the pace for 12 rounds he might be able to pull it off, but at his age now, it's highly unlikely, but thats the kind of performance he would need.
IMHO - Kovalev. It can be said that it is not Canelo's best performance, but it is a great sporting success. Canelo, as the middleweight champion, jumped up to the super middleweight division, and challenged the champion (belt holder) LHW and won.
I thought his best performance was in the GGG rematch where he only lost 7 rounds instead of 8 like he did in the first fight.
Strongly disagree. He is the far superior boxer now. Just because he threw lots of arm punch combinations doesn´t mean he was better. This content is protected Mosley performance was a really good one.
Wish I could have given you more than one “like” click. Worth listening to Tim Bradley’s breackdown on Alvarez on Mannix’s recent podcast. Particularly Alvarez’s navigation of his annexation of the 168 belts, his management obviously having analysed the weak belt holders.
