This has got to be the most white-on-white fight anyone could make, but that’s immaterial. Both were of some note as heavyweights — Ingo of course flatting Floyd Patterson to win the title (and suffering his only two losses in the rematches) and Botha claiming the IBF belt for about 5 minutes with a split decision over Axel Shulz (turned to no contest with Frans was popped for PEDs).

Could the White Buffalo buffalo Ingo?

Would the Hammer of Tor rain lightning on Botha’s goatee?

Let’s make it for 12 rounds at a neutral site, say Las Vegas, so no shenanigans.

    Who you got? And how/why?

I'm taking Botha with his size and durability being the deciding factor. I'm sure Ingo will land some hard right hands and shake Botha at times but Botha will have a pretty significant weight advantage and I really think that ends up mattering down the line.

I see it the same. Ingo was a lover, not a fighter when it came to getting physical — and while Botha had some boxing skill and ability, I figure for this he’d sense his size advantage and turn it into more of a mauling, brawling affair. Francois was more than comfortable in that kind of a slog.

Ingo can’t stand up to that. Botha wears him down and tags him to get a stoppage around the 10th.

The White Buffalo would end up trampling Ingo.

    Haha.

This thread made me just realise that I mistakenly referred to Botha as The White Rhino in another thread. Close enough for hand grenades, maybe?

It’s a better nick name at least, just imo.

The White Hunter with the Blackest Heart wins this stoush.

What happens when a White Buffalo meets a Black Rhino?

A draw. We know this because Both and Clifford Etienne locked up for 10 non-decisive rounds at some point.

Too bad Pink Cat Walker wasn’t a heavyweight and didn’t come around a generation or so later.

This also reminds me that I haven’t been to the Tim Tszyu for quite some time.

I wonder what the Tszyu Kostya these days?

Probably an arm and leg even without climbing into the Dick Tigers’ enclosure - and we do know that tigers can be real dicks.

On second thought, I’ll probably not be Russian to the Tszyu real soon.

There’s a thought - compiling the precious cargo for Boxing’s very own Noah’s Ark.

    Ingo by KO.

Ingo's resume (wins) is levels above Botha's one. Botha's only win over top 50 fighter is controversial SD against Mike Hunter. Other than that it sucks really, really bad

Most of Ingo's opponents were under 200 pounds. Sure Patterson and Machen were great wins but they wouldn't be heavyweights in Botha's era. Botha fought in an era against guys like Lewis, Tyson, Moorer and Holyfield. These men were full fledged heavyweights

Hard not to see the bingo not zeroing in on the huge target that Botha’s head presents!

And Botha got knocked out against each of them. Plus Tyson, Holyfield and Moorer weren't big heavyweights

They were a lot bigger than Patterson who started as a Middleweight. Too each his own. A 50 pound weight advantage is pretty significant.

Which guys that Botha lost to do you think Ingo would beat? I think if he fought the same competition, Johansson would likely lose to all the ones Frans lost to.
