Peak Liston beats any version of Frazier

 

AI could not come up with a worse matchup for Joe Frazier, as great as he was, than peak Charles Liston. It very well could be Foreman in Kingston times God knows what.

 

Liston all the way. I got him ranked somewhere around 3-5 for my head to head list.

It would be a war, for me a 50/50 fight Sonny early or Joe late.

No. I put that fight at 50/50 and I flip flop between the two to be honest. But Rocky is not a head first fighter. He crouches and leans to draw his opponent closer. He closes the gap in different ways than Frazier. They r both swarmer types who throw an absurd amount of punches but the technique to get there is different. Rocky’s head is always off center line while Frazier bobs and weaves off center line w his head in front. Frazier for that reason is quicker to the draw but easier to hit.

 

Most if not all variations of Liston would pummel Frazier. Frazier was total swarm and didn't stop unless someone could stop him.
Joe Louis (I think it was Louis) said that Foreman could cage up the ring better than anyone he had ever seen, yet Foreman couldn't back up Liston in their sparring, ever.
There is no way Frazier is gonna bully Liston at all. How can Frazier win unless Liston is at his worst and just can't handle the smokin
