As for fight night weight, once they started to be declared there were a few ones weren't there? Remember that Castillo was 10 lbs heavier than Floyd in the ring. Don't recall numbers for Corrales and Gatti, but they were known as big drainers. As was Hatton.

 

There were some crazy numbers from at least McCrory from that era:

“I outgrew welterweight,” McCrory said. “When I fought Colin Jones the first time I was 161 pounds [on fight night]. I was 174 pounds when I fought Donald Curry. I had to starve to make weight, and back then you fought the same day.”

 

But Haney at 135, never

 

It was still rare to see guys go over 10lbs.
Ortiz being 14lbs above 147 against Floyd was quite surprising for many.
Chavez Jr. going up 20lbs in the early 2010s was ****ing mad.

 

Nunn would KO Haney

 

There were a few others around then. Clottey and Margarito also. And I've never seen an in ring weight for Williams, but he looked like a ****ing monster at WW.

Maidana had 17 lbs on Floyd in the ring.

 

I remember him actually not being that big at all at 147. I think one of the tale of the tapes had him at 155 or something. Like, how?

All Haney has is a jab and he`s a weight bully who holds often, he wouldn`t be able to out-jab a southpaw with a 77 inch reach, he`s never proven he can beat a fighter that has a 5 inch reach advantage over him, plus Nunn was quicker than most fighters Haney has beat, most of Nunn`s title opponents would have beat Haney, Kalambay would have toyed with Haney and Barkley would have stopped him early, no comparison at all.

Haney is not the bigger man here wtf! On what planet does Nunn ever make 135!?!?

 

So…..a 165 lb rehydration clause on both Nunn and Haney? Nunn brutally beats Haney up.

 

If Haney was 165, Nunn would be like 180 by the time they fought........................

But let's entertain the question:
It should be known that Nunn absolutely feasted on the handful of WWs and JMWs that came up to MW to fight him, and a couple of them IMO were significantly more vetted than Haney.

 

He was a huge lightweight.

 

Nunn was unimpressive v Starling.
