Who Froch be too durable and get to Hearns late on ? or does Hearns still have enough power to KO Froch even at Super Middleweight ?

Hearns for me. Boxing wise he's head and shoulders above Froch.

This could be a classic, both men getting hurt at times.
Hearns was getting on at Supermiddle so I give the edge to Froch.

Hearns obviously the vastly, vastly superior boxer, but also naturally the far lighter man.

Over 15 rounds I could see a bruised and battered Froch score a come from behind stoppage late on.

Froch stops him, Hearns was vulnerable above 154lbs and Froch is the sort of guy to test that, Froch was durable, had stamina and was relentless, Hearns would outbox him for a bit, but would eventually get stopped.

Tommy didn't like being pressured and Froch was a relentless dog. Hearns never quite carried his power the same above 154. His chin wasn't the best either and this was compounded by Tommy's very leaky defence. Hearns struggled against guys his size and guys who were bigger punchers than him. Froch was bigger than him, had a better chin, better power, and could box with him on roughly even terms. Tommy has succes early by pumping the jab but Froch eventually gets past it and breaks him down and stops him.

Tommy is without a doubt the far superior fighter pound for pound but I hate the matchup for him at 168. Froch was physical and strong as hell and miles better than Barkley who knocked Hearns around. I don't see Tommy holding up to the physicality of Froch.

I'll take Froch in this one.
Hearns figthing about 20 lbs above his prime weight, against a big 168 pounder (Froch could very well have been a LHW), who would have a significant edge in physical strength does not bode well for Hearns.
While Froch didn't have the pure boxing talent of Hearns, I still believe both his boxing skills and ring IQ were better than most gave him credit for doing his career. So I don't see Hearns boxing his ears off either.
Froch by mid round TKO, in a competetive but clear victory.

Carl Froch would have an issue in this fight and it goes back to what he does with his feet when he throw a right hand. Every time Froch throws his right hand, he steps forward with his right foot and he did this every time I saw him fight. Watch the first fight with Groves, he was literally walking into right hand counters and got dropped hard. If Groves knew how to finish a man, Froch would have been in trouble.
Hearns, everybody knows about his right hand, and, if he hurt Froch, Tommy knew how to finish a fight.
Froch was a tough guy and maybe he would be able to get to Hearns and bully him around to wear him down and stop him but it would be trial by fire. He would eat some hellacious right hand shots.

If Dirrell and Taylor can rock Froch, so can Hearns. The difference is finishing ability and speed/power. I'd take Hearns by early tko or mid round ref or corner stoppage.

This would have been fun for 6 rounds but I think Froch’s size end up playing a big factor. Hearns wouldn’t be able to keep Froch off him for long and eventually he’ll succumb to the onslaught from Froch leading to a stoppage.

Froch goes down early, but comes back with a 12 round UD. Too big for Hearns at 168.

Did you say Froch has better power and could box with Hearns on roughly even terms?

At 168 yes I think Froch had better power than Tommy and I think his boxing ability is underrated and that Tommy was pretty one-dimensional at times. Froch was a pretty decorated amateur iirc, he was more than just a chin, heart, and a pair of fists. Some won’t believe it but there was actually a half-decent boxing brain between his ears who knew how to handle himself in the ring and whose style had more nuance (not a term often used in relation to Froch I’m aware) than most give him credit for.
