So Roberto Duran retired with 103 wins and 16 losses and no draws, this has always seemed a bit odd to me, when you consider how many fighters have been awarded draws. There are a few of his losses I call into question. Kirkland Laing- this fight could've been a draw easily, as Laing did nothing spectacular and neither did Duran. Robbie Sims- Duran was docked a point in a close fight that otherwise could have been a draw. Pat Lawler- Duran hurt his shoulder so this "loss" is more of a No Contest IMO. Vinny Pazienze 1- Duran got jipped in this one IMO he put Paz on the canvas twice in reality and Paz didn't do enough to earn the decision IMO, this could have easily been a draw which could've set up for the rematch. **As a side note I think Duran just showed up for a paycheck in the second fight as he clearly had not trained hard and probably figured he'd get screwed again. Hector Camacho 1 -ABSOLUTE ROBBERY, this fight should have went to Roberto hands down no argument. William Joppy- a bad loss but he never should have been in the ring at that point. Hector Camacho 2- OLD ANCIENT. His other losses are pretty legit some just from him not training and taking the fights too lightly.

When you’re as busy as Duran you have good days at the office and bad ones. Duran probably just didn’t attach the catastrophic magnitude we do to losing a fight. Why would he? The lack of draws are interesting though I agree didn’t he also “lose” to Jorge Castro?
Duran clearly lost to Laing that was no draw Duran was frustrated all night and couldn't get going. I also don't agree that all of Duran's losses were from him not training or taking fighters lightly. Hearns was probably the worst stylistic match up for Duran ever and he just got poleaxed. Benitez beat him fair and square that was a masterclass from Benitez and Duran couldn't do a thing about it. DeJesus also beat Duran fair and square in their 1st meeting no excuses.
I thought Duran did enough to win a narrow decision against Sims. His punches were more precise. I have to rewatch the Camacho and Paz, do not remember them well
Duran loved fighting but I guess after a while hated training. Weight issues blowing up between fights, in shape Duran full camp very live chance against anyone.
