Now I'm seeing a lot of people saying Crawford has no chance against Canelo based on his performance against Madrimov. But it's very, very wrong approach and I'll tell you why. Canelo and Madrimov are very different style wise, technique wise. They have similar height snd build obviously, but stylistically Canelo isn't anything like Madrimov. Canelo has his advantages - he is two weight classes bigger, much, much more experienced, and, unlike Madrimov, he will be A-side against Crawford meaning he will win all the close rounds in judges' eyes. Canelo also have some technical advantages over Madrimov like superior head movement.

However, Isroil has far better feet. He cuts the ring very efficiently and is much lighter and versatile in his footwotk compared to Canelo who is actually cement-footed. Canelo is far inferior to Madrimov in footwork and his cement feets will be much easier to handle for Crawford than Madrimov's underrated footwork.

Canelo ALWAYS had huge problems with guys with great footwotk - Lara, Trout, Floyd who made him look absolutely clueless at the offensive end. Bivol as well. Hell, even Amir Khan outboxed Canelo handily before he got caught.

I'm not saying Crawford would definitely beat Canelo because Canelo has hus advantages over Madrimov. But it would be very wrong to write Crawford off based on his fight against Madrimov who is different to Canelo in many ways.

Style wise Crawford would do very well against the flat footed Canelo but he would have to introduce more power punches into his offensive

Madrimov would also be tough for Canelo too

Lol, fans have more confidence than Crawford. He sure as hell didnt sound like he wanted any part of Canelo in the interview last night.

Madrimov is probably very happy to lose to Crawford. He will never get such a big paycheck again in his career. He will fade from now on, like the journeyman he is.

People don't seem to realize, that Madrimov had great footwork, stamina, movements and power.

Canelo don't have even half of the skills that Madrimov has.

I would bet that BUD will beat Canelo more widely, than Madrimov.

If you think that Khan got caught, you are an idiot and need to reexamine the fight.

Broadly I just think Canelo's too big, too durable and hits too hard - I'd expect Bud to have some success, but he'd also get hit hard.

More than anything else here, though, I disagree that Canelo would automatically get the A-side privilege...
A few years back, definitely. But Canelo's not quite the poster boy for the sport that he was for a while, he's still clearly an excellent fighter but he's gone beyond the point where he looks scarily dominant and that's affected his casual fanboi appeal.

Let's be honest though, it's not happening... Crawford would want a catchweight given how he looks like he's already at his ceiling and Canelo knows all too well how those work and won't want it.

'Nice' to see you attacking someone's thoughts while ignoring the largest part of the post which is very relevant actually. Canelo and Madrimov have completely different styles

No one is comparing Madrimov to Canelo or think Canelo will win because Madrimov did so well. It's because Crawford's power was clearly diminished at 154, so it will be non-existent 14 pounds North at 168. Canelo won't need to rely on his footwork, all he needs is his slippery defense and head movement on the front foot, and he walks down and beats the ever living **** out of Bud and most likely stops him in 6 or less. For the record, I was one of the people hyping Madrimov and saying he gives Bud fits.

He just went toe to toe with the best p4p fighter on the planet and all of a sudden he is a journeyman?

154 isn't Bud's weight class, and yet he still dethroned the champion. Had Madrimov been really that good, he would do what Bivol did to Canelo, tell him to stay in his own weight.

Canelo has an iron chin and is MUCH bigger than Crawford who is arguably not even a real junior middleweight. Yes Bud would be able to land fairly easily on Canelo but I think Canelo will at some point really hurt Bud bad. I still give Crawford a chance but it seems to me that something bad would eventually happen.
