Dude got stopped brutally by De Los Santos and a lot of people wrote him off and called him a hype job. Rayo was gifted with a lot of power and speed which is why he bought into his hype too much. That loss was probably the best thing that happened to him though since he started tightening up his defense and not just going for the KO with every punch. After getting knocked out brutally he was robbed against Colbert and he had to be at an all time low mentally. Coming back from that and beating an elite operator like Pitbull a year later to win a world championship is a crazy come back and should be inspiration to fighters who think that after they lose their 0 their career is over. Let's get Rayo vs Paro for a unification match next.
Fair play to him. Bookies gave him no shot as a 4/1 underdog. Watching the fight at times I fought it was Paro in there, never realised how similar his and Rayo’s style are. Really disappointed in Cruz, like Matias he was outboxed handily in the end.
Rayo has always been a skilled boxer, he just got knocked out by a big puncher he chose to trade with. I’ve always liked the guy, people were way too quick to write him off.
I'm glad he came back, he is fun to watch. I would love to see him fight paro, here in the US. Their styles match up perfectly.
