I'm hearing lots of people a bit deflated and moaning about Crawford at the minute. It wasn't what we are used to seeing from bud but I think it still showed how good he was. Madrimov is a solid and quality light middleweight. Knows what he is doing in the ring, good ring iq and hits hard. When a fighter like Crawford goes up to that weight you can't look as dynamic and as strong as you were at light welter or welter. He had respect for the bigger man and still showed that he was the more skillful guy. Against a very good fighter up at a new weight yoi can't always come out bullying the guy. He usually gets to grup with people within 3 rounds and takes them apart. He did the same in this fight but knew he couldn't just take the bigger stronger man apart so boxed to get a victory and even then I thought he looked great in the last two rounds I don't understand the criticism. Views?
Agreed! We must also take into consideration that 154 is his 4th weight class. Like you said, Madrimov was strong and skilled, plus he has a tough style that seemed to prevent Crawford from getting into rhythm. I think it was a good showing from both guys. They knew and respected who they were up against.
My views are no matter how great you are, the greatness you've already achieved or destined to be they'll always something for the fans to moan about. Oh but he's not as good as so and so was in his prime. Oh but he never fought this guy or that guy. Oh but he was a terrible boxer who only ever relied on punch power. Oh but he got gifted the win. Oh but he never knocked this person out. Oh but he never boxed in front of a sold out stadium.
Put it this way. I had a little flutter on Crawford to win on points. I before the fight thought he would be a level or two above madrimov. But I respected madrimov as a fighter and the bigger man so went with the points win. But people expect Crawford to do up at light middle what he did in the previous 3 weights which you can't against fast and quality bigger men
It will be a good surprise when Bud beats Canelo. I hope odds will be great. Please continue to think that Bud was bad in that fight.
I don’t criticize him, Madrimov fought a solid fight and Crawford dug deep in the late rounds and took home the W and belt. The result does have many of us rethinking the Canelo fight. I myself would like him to stay at 154 and take on Fundora or Tszyu rather than go up two more weights
