Jeffries in the early 1890s, how does he do?

I wouldn't like to say, beyond my opinion that he would be facing a tougher field than he did in his own day.

Prime versions of Jackson and Corbett are probably 50/50 fights.

 

Jeffries is very hard to rate but I suspect he was great.

Loses to prime Peter Jackson.

Back then it would be in fights to the finish, and none of those guys, even at their best, beats Jeffries in a fight to the finish. They can't knock him out, and he had the power and endurance to stop anyone at any time. Corbett and Jackson probably outbox him for a period of time, but somewhere, sometime, Jeff is going to catch them, the fight will change, and eventually he finishes them off.

 

That is my view, also. Jeffries goes 4-0 in some really good fights!

For the most part agree. Would be interesting if Jefferies would have met Jackson or Corbett -- Jefferies and opponent both in a 'coming up' phase of their career -- in a limited rounds fight or exhibition. Possibly Corbett or Jackson, in such a scenario, might have bettered Jeffries. But eventually there'd have been demand for Jeffries to rematch them, and I think that, though they might have shown well against Jeffries, in finish fights would Jeffries attritions them both.
