I had it 113-113 too, but I can definitely see a case for a 114-112 scorecard for either fighter. I had Bocachuk winning: 1 (10-8), 4, 7 (close), 8 (10-8), 9 (close) And Ortiz winning: 2, 3, 5 (close), 6, 10 (close), 11, 12 I had Ortiz winning 7-5 (with two 10-8 rounds for Bohachuk), with each fighter winning two rounds considered close. With just one of the close rounds swinging the other way we have a 114-112 scorecard for either fighter, which I think would be fair also.
No way Ortiz won this fight. Look at the damage his face took compared to Bohachuk. Ortiz was getting hit clean by big shots making him wobble way more then Bohachuk in the back end of the fight. With 2 knockdowns and Bohachuk dominating the middle rounds, I dont even see this being a draw honestly. I just cant believe they didnt even respect Bohachuck enough to at least give it a draw. ..Not a single judge had it for the champ? Cmon. Vintage Golden Boy. Im truly baffled that people actually think Ortiz won this fight.
This is boxing not a photoshoot. Loma looked like he had been in a car crash after he fought Haney but he still deserved to win the fight
I thought Bohachuk edged it. I had it 6-6 with the 2 KDs leaving him at 114-112. The 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th were all swing rounds pretty much (I gave Ortiz the 3rd and 5th and Bohachuk the 7th and 9th). I think a draw would have been a fair outcome. I don't feel especially aggrieved by the decision. It was an amazing fight and definitely warrants a rematch. Bud should fight the Towering Inferno before he fights Vergil imo. An instant classic though.
Good stuff, Serge. At times, I thought Ortiz boxed extremely well, and no one can question the kid's ticker. Likewise, Bohachuk displayed an old school, let's-keep-swapping 'til somebody quits mentality. He also showed some genuine if unheralded craft with those chopping, clubbing shots on the interior. Great fight and two of the very best at 154. (I had it six rounds apiece, incidentally, so by virtue of the knockdowns the Ukrainian should have retained his title. I'm certainly comfortable with a draw, however).
Exactly he'd only fought 2 rds in last 2 years. Bohachuk is a tough mofo. Hopefully there is a rematch Ortiz will look much better as I believe he gained more (activity, experience, possibly correct things in the gym ) from those 12 hard rounds. I also believe That is already the best version of Bohachuk. Ortiz should have a slightly easier time with him in the rematch.
This. I had 114-112 Ortiz, although scoring it for Bohachuk is also reasonable. This is the definition of a high level razor close fight that could go either way with close scores or be scored a draw.
Thanks Yeah he did and it was a great fight which had everything you could ask for Both performed very well and I would've been fine with a draw too Ortiz was faster and the better boxer and whilst Bobachuk might be slow he has a way of being able to make it work for him
Yeah, Bohachuk masks his shots very well from that high guard and that in part compensates for his lack of speed. Ortiz is scarcely a blur, but you are right that he certainly has faster hands than the Ukrainian.
Maybe because he hurt him twice. Once in the first minute with a punch to the solar plexus that made Bohachuk's legs buckle and stumbled forward, and hurt him again with another body shot in the last minute, not to mention the uppercut he landed and the onslaught Vergil unleashed on him.
Youre just writing words that have no basis in reality. Reminds me of Jim Lampley broadcasts. Sounds nice but rarely depicted what actually happened. Bohachuk and Ortiz fought to a virtual DRAW and 1 KD voids that let alone 2 KDs
