Most ridiculous reason for disliking a fighter

Some people on this forum think being white is a detriment to athleticism. Sad

 

I dislike all southpaws…

The fanbase. Personally I think it’s ridiculous to hate on someone just because of their fans.

 

Years back, whenever I would hear a fighter talk about himself in third person, I'd instantly suspect that he was kind of a douche. I'm kind of used to it at this point though.

It seems we’ve expanded the premise beyond our own personal reasons for disliking a fighter.

In that frame, I would say disliking a fighter merely because he beat your “favourite” pug isn’t really a good reason for such animosity.

For one example - Holmes would’ve copped a lot of hate for beating the beloved Muhammad Ali but, in all objectivity, Larry didn’t do anything wrong .

 

Its 1985 and I am 12.

I hated Macho Camacho for his style the way he danced and had those costumes.

I hated Larry Holmes for picking opponents and taking seemingly easy fights on his way to beating Marciano's record. I was elated that he finally lost to Michael Spinks.

I dreamed about both losing.

Then 1986 happened and something clicked. I had met my girlfriend and joined her girl band and finally started releasing this female part of mine. And we were doing shows in school in front of our friends at lunch. So I stopped hating Macho Camacho for his glitzy style. Michael Spinks beats Larry Holmes a second time but it was controversial so I stopped hating Larry Holmes, and started seeing him for the great champion he always was.

Its 2024 and I love Macho Camacho and Larry Holmes!

 

Shorts were definitely 'a thing' for sometime, there was a trend of bigger, longer and ridiculous looking ones for quite a, you'd have thought Trainers & Managers would have said, " don't be so flipping stupid, you look like a ***** in them.

Anyway, they made you think less of many who donned them.

 

I hold Felix Trinidad personally accountable to this day. Someone has to.

 

It is stupid. But certain fanboys can really make some fighters look bad.

 

I don’t want to scare you or anything but someone is waiting to drown you when you leave the premise.
