"When I said I was going to come back at the age of 55, I was going to do it. I was in good shape. I would talk to my wife every night about it. David Tua was the No.1 contender at the time and I knew I could beat him. My wife said, ‘You’re not going back to boxing.’ I said, ‘Yes I am! You think I can’t beat these guys don’t you? I tell you I can beat them.’ She looked at me and said, ‘George, isn’t that the way you want to leave the sport, thinking you can still do it?’ That was so profound. I never brought the conversation up again."

If he still just had a heavy jab and patience he could do it - but then I’ve never seen a 55 yr old Foreman, at 49 he could 100%.

Chin would’ve been shot by his mid 50s, at 48 he was still world level, but the older you get, the quicker you decline, at 55 he would get knocked out by Tua, every time I’ve seen a fighter fighting their 50s, they’re wobbling off of any punch.

I don't know, just gets on my nerves whenever I hear him on the commentary team.

stylistically he could beat Tua, but if he is hit by that left hook? Oh what a punch.

Do we really know what a 55 year old George's style would be though? Look how slow he was by 45 now add another decade.

I do think if influencer boxing were around back then he'd have made a killing KOing guys like Jake Paul, but not actual top HWs.

Agreed. Oddly, I do like him and have a ton of respect for him as a fighter. But I found him frequently contradictory and often not very insightful on the mic.
