Ferguson was a tricky customer, the sort of guy that could give Old Foreman plenty of issues, could he snatch a decision? If not, would you pick him against Foreman or the Schulz fight onwards for example with the style Ferguson did have? Who wins this matchup?
I feel like it's a similar case to the Stewart fight, except Ferguson didn't have as vulnerable a chin as the Brit. Maybe that makes the difference.
Ferguson certainly gave old Larry a lot of problems. My take is that if old Larry could barely pull off a decision win, old George would've needed a KO. And Ferguson was pretty tough.
Ferguson almost knocked out Holmes in the 2nd round aswell had him reeling along the ropes. I never scored the fight RBR maybe I should in the future, but i remember it being a pretty close fight that i wasn't actually sure Holmes won.
I think Holmes' issue is that he didn't go into the fight taking Ferguson very seriously. He payed for it by getting rocked, but he still came out on the other side pulling a decent decision.
You never knew what you were going to get from Ferguson. Sometimes he could win big fights. If he’s in good form he might have given old George some problems
