Definitely one Makh can lose if he isn't careful. Would be wise to box more and take his time as opposed to headhunting. Vianello isn't the type of guy to just fall over, and he'll probably be looking to survive the early rounds, and break him down to the body later in the fight.

Neither had stellar amateur records. Makhmudov had a lot of stoppage wins, but usually lost decisions to faster boxers like Russo.

 

Richard Torres jr. Is fighting joey dawejko on September 20th on the munugia undercard good step up fight as dawejko has been active recently

 

It's a good matchup for Torres, Dawejko always gives it his best effort and usually isn't easy to stop.

Better for an up-and-comer to be tested, rather than fight people who come to lose.

Sirenko has a fight on Oct 1 according to Boxrec against TBA.

Total contrast to a couple of years back.

This is my post # 5000 ... which actually means from 5000+ according to the settings I don't see any of those righthand corner video ads. I don't mind the video so much, but the sound is an issue for me. It's coming up on 20 years since I found this forum and joined, but I viewed ESB since 2003. I've made a bit more small talk and passing comment of late to get over the 5000 line, so I don't get the video ads.

The first thing I read on ESB was a breakdown of the current top 30 HWs, and I still follow things in terms of this. When I was young I mainly watched and followed Australian fighters (90s) and the late 80s - 90s HWs, Mike Tyson first and foremost.

For this post - I'd just put a handful of HWs I'd like to see purged from the current top 30 and the handful I'd like to see take their place. For ease ... I'm going to reference the heavyweightboxing.com top 30 that I reckon is usually pretty close to my own. It already includes Huni etc.
Best way for fighters to go out is via decisive loss, and best way for those to come in is a decisive win against someone there or thereabouts in the top 30.

Out:
Ruiz (like Solis, wasted lifetime opportunities by being out of shape, likely to be inactive due to pricing himself out)
Chisora (great career, lots of respect, no need for him to follow Danny Williams' path)
Whyte (steroids, still would like to see him in one more top level fight, prefer a newcomer, or Jalolov or the like)
Wilder (need to move on from that era)
Ortiz/Pulev (match up with someone emerging ok, but otherwise age)
Miller (steroids, steroids, and more steroids ... better to have that relegated to the past)
Lanier Pero (better to make way for his brother, seems to be inactive after getting some momentum going ... Juan Carlos Gómez was a bit frustrating like that over a few years)
Gassiev - see below

In: Danier Pero (don't know why, but I like his style)
Zhan K/Olek Zhak (despite their hard to remember names if they could get fights I reckon they'd be solid 20-30 or better)
Torrez Jr (like everything about him, would be good for him to take on Pero in the pro's. Just avoid Jalolov)
Sirenko (hopefully he will make up for lost time, unlikely to win a belt but can be in the general mix)
Gurgen Hovhannisyan (I really like watching him, seems to enjoy himself and not be phased. Think he has a very high ceiling but concerned his last fight was called off with no info, and is starting to go down the path of messing around, possibly injuries, things not ending up happening, etc. This is a concern.)
Itauma (obvious upsides, but yet to really prove a point against a worthy foe, someone like Hemi Ahio who is around prime and coming to try to win, would be good.)
Mullojonov/possibly Gadzhimagomedov/definitely Opetaia (move up to take over Gassiev's position as moving up cruiser)
Teremoana Jnr (won over by the Olympics performance. Australian like me. Maybe the best potential along with Gurgen and Itauma)
Jakhongir Zokirov (6'7' Uzbek 21 year old. I know quite a few Uzbeks in Korea, so I'm keeping an eye on this bloke, if he can get fights)
Lastly ... Willis Meehan (don't know if he's inside or on the outside, but still hoping he finds religion or gets pressed into boxing as part of a probation deal or something ... and gives it another shot with dedication. A dark horse, but he's still young enough to re-emerge and I hope he does.)

This is actually a darn good fight for him. Dawejko will never be even a fringe contender because he would be a cruiser if in real shape, but he's got skills and a classy left hook. Exactly the kind a guy a two-year prospect should be fighting.
