I am favoring him to beat Bivol but Opetaia will be the end of the line for him if he does move up.

I’m a fan of Beterbiev and whilst so far he has had an excellent career however it’s not the resume or depth of some of his predecessors, beating Bivol and also Benavidez would look good on his record no doubt but with both fighters having never previously fought a LHW Champion,in the bigger picture of things it adds little to his ATG standings imho. Beterbiev is still not retired so there may or may not be more fights that can help his standing, time will tell.

The thing is people in this thread are saying "no" but then again Bob Foster is considered an ATG and his resume is not exactly filled with household names.

Foster came along when the division was fairly weak and he missed out on when the division become very strong in the late 70s early 80s.

If Beterbiev were to beat Bivol, Benavidez, he'd definitely be on the same level as Foster with probably a slighty better resume overall.

Lots of maniacs itt. If Beter fights and beats/stops two undefeated fighters like Bivol and Benavidez at 39+ years of age then Beter is absolutely an ATG LHW. If Beter stops both he retires w 100% KO rate.

I dont know a single LHW Id pick to beat Beter without thinking on it. Already I think the Beter that beat Gvodzyk beats prime RJJ and Toney. But Beter has been chinny at times at that would be trouble versus the likes of Ezzard Charles, Moore, Langford, Foster, Spinks, and even Tunney.

Opateia had his hands full twice against Breidis.

Whatever greatness people are seeing in Opateia I am not seeing it.....

Can someone explain to me why a win over Benavidez would make it something special.

Usyk had his hands full with prime Breidis!!! The fact Opetaia beat Breidis - even post-prime tells me he's legit

    Usyk faced a prime Breidis

Opateia faced a close to shot Breidis and struggled both times

    All in my humble opinion

Opetai also had his hands full with Breidis in their 1st fight I scored it a draw and he had his jaw broken in the process.

Their 2nd fight was almost 2 years after and Breidis hadn't fought since their 1st fight and was 39 years old.

Usyk fought a prime a Breidis where as Opetai fought a past it Breidis and then and even more past it inactive Breidis in their 2nd fight.

Opetai doesn't in any way look like the new Usyk, but he's a good fighter and bigger and younger than Beterbiev so of course it would be a very, very good win for Beterbiev.

Both have fought lhw champs and bivol has fought a cruiserweight champion. How do you think beterbiev because unified?

I think he means a reigning LHW champion, which Bivol hasn’t fought

It’s not like Jai can control the guy’s age. Even an old Briedis still proved that his power and timing are just as good as anyone’s. Beterbiev has no chance against Jai.
