    Remember the build up to the Hatton vs Lauri fight - unifying the WBO and WBA inter-alphabetty title :patsch

    He then vacated them to win the British belt before disgracefully vacating to be given a Warren Boxing Union 'world' title.

    did you know in 1997 when Naseem Hamed fought Kevin Kelly

    Naseem Hamed was WBO Champion

    Kevin Kelly was WBU Champion

    but Kelly's WBU title was not on the line

    the reason????

    the first World title fight Frank Warren promoted was in 1985 before the paper titles came along

    the WBA World Welterweight Championship in Birmingham

    Don "Lone Star Cobra" Curry V Colin Jones

    it was January - start of the year

    it was winter time and snowing

    and a couple of boys on the end of my street who were twins built a snowman with a banner over it wishing Colin Jones good luck for the Curry fight

    I think they tried to do that with the WBO, they had to back down when Warren threatened legal action. The days when the BBBoC was able to enforce their rules without having to answer to anyone are long gone. This has had its upsides as well as its downsides.
