(PRIME) Lennox Lewis vs (PRIME) Oleksandr Usyk

What do you guys think?

 

Nope, Prime Lennox is some mythical unbeatable creature by some crazy rose tinted goggles standards. What's his highlight win? Holyfield 1?

Holyfield, Lennox, Usyk all these top tiers are going to give each other something to think about. It's possible a roided head down Holyfield would give Usyk more problems but fall short down the stretch on won boxing rounds.

Lennox has more power than Fury and remains so down the stretch. But he's much more traditional, on the line. So not as hard for Usyk to work out. Typical heavy dimensions. Powerful jabwhich would unsettle Usyk at times and force him to stay outside.

Usyk has hit a sweet spot where he's not too small (as a career large cruiser) but has traits most cruiser and especially heavyweights don't have. Quick very precise footwork, his work rate has come down a decent amount at HW but still far greater than all heavies. He's changed a decent amount to cope with fighting heavyweights also. Defensively more sound, less throw away shots, sacked off his high guard ring circling which you can catch him doing in his heavy debuts. The workload mentally for him is so much easier to deal with against heavyweights that the physical demand is never a problem...mental demand leads to more physical degradation than anything.

Usyk has proven he can hang with anyone...The thing with Usyk is it's the notion there is a softness about him which is really unfounded apart from to his belly.

 

Don't to this to me! Two of my favs.

I can see it either way. Lewis was a very special fighter and a natural super-heavy.

But he had off days. I can't see Usyk losing to Rahmen or McCall, either, and Ray Mercer doesn't do to Usyk what he did to Lewis with a ball bat.

This is probably the kind of thing where we have to wait and see how Uysk finishes and what else he accomplishes before you can really say much about it.

 

Bad style for Usyk imo

Yeah Lewis is too much.

 

Lewis he hits far harder than Fury and if hes hitting Usyk with those same uppercuts hes going to trouble Usyk alot more than Fury did.

Lewis is also much better boxer than Joshua and would take more risks if he felt the fight wasn't going his way.

A step too far for Usyk IMO Lewis by decision.

 

Lewis's dominant performance over Holyfield in their 1st fight would've been the equivalent of Fury doing the samething vs Usyk. Except Holyfield had a much more proven resume at Heavyweight and was ranked the number 1 Heavyweight in the world. Also Lewis didn't need help from the referee to save himself from getting TKO'ed like Fury against Usyk.

 

It's about 50/50 but Lewis is more likely to win with his posturing jab and the uppercut + he was better up close than aj and Fury

 

Lewis didn't fight a southpaw, he was trying always to fight orthodox fighters. If holyfield gave Lewis fits than usyk imo outboxes Lewis in a 116-112 manner. Still there is a possibility that Lewis catches usyk

 

I find it hard to envision Usyk losing, and he's fought the best of the best.

 

Yes, prime Lewis will prove to be too much for Usyk.
It won't be totally one-sided, Usyk will have serious moments in the fight but Lewis wins it.

Usyk would be competitive, but Lewis would shade it.

But then we're talking about the H2H greatest heavyweight against the H2H greatest cruiser... At heavy.

 

Yeah cool Fury didn't get chinned over twice by two mediocre americans did he?

 

Well a mediocre Wilder had him down 4 times needing some support from the referee in their 1st meeting to help him rise up.

I also don't see Lewis struggling with the likes of Tim Sylvia in a boxing match either.
