I’ve come to greatly appreciate Marciano over the years. He was far more skilled than most understand. He was always parrying, blocking, slipping, bobbing and weaving. Also his movement back and forth between front and back foot allowed him to fall away so opponents needed to reach in and then move in to attack. Very subtle but effective. Regarding Walcott one would be hard pressed to find another heavyweight champion in that pristine level of condition when he faced Marciano. He was a ripped shredded master boxer confident of victory that night. All that being said and true he was also fighting the final two bouts of a 22 year career with his bouts vs Marciano.
