Shawn Porter wants to find footage of him and Usyk

    I have not been into a fighter like I am into Usyk since the 90s, when I was very dedicated to Chavez, Foreman, Lewis and Toney. He is really the first to capture my imagination like those guys did. But I would not mind seeing that footage at all. Porter is a guy who kind of missed out on the real big wins, but now, he has this new claim to fame as a boxer, even if it was an amateur fight a very long time ago.

    And hell, it's all part of the story, kind of like how Tyson was knocked out by Al "Chico" Evans as an amateur, or Holmes was beaten by the southpaw.

    I would like to see it.

    The one i want to see the most if Lewis getting tko'd by a Soviet guy in 1986.

    Not really. Then you'd need to give claim to fame to other guys who beat Usyk in amateurs, like Matvey Korobov or Lukasz Wawrzyczek whom you probably don't know.

    Usyk started boxing only when he was 15 and it took him time before he developed as a fighter and as an athlete.

    Naw, not that complicated at all. No one is going to remember those guys. People are asking Shawn Porter about it now. He's getting some new cred, period. That is the reality.

    Usyk still way too underrated and he beat Fury for undisputed. Usyk an all-time great heavyweight already imo

    I wish Fury hadn't done that thing with Ngannou before the Usyk fight.

    When he got dropped by a debutant, you knew his focus wasn't there, training wasn't there, and there was no way he was going beat Usyk.

    I thought Usyk had a 30-40% chance to win before Fury got in the ring with Ngannou but after that it was more like "Usyk is going to win but will the judges recognize it?"

    You are right, but, let's be honest that Usyk beat Fury, the ref, a crooked judge, and probably Turki as well. And history will remember that.

    I think the Ngannou thing is mostly forgotten at this point...but you're right. It was a bad look and will forever be a black mark for those who do remember.

    Korobov was terribly unlucky as a pro. He really only had the one slip up against Andy Lee. After that fight he was shut out for years, kept fighting on but by then it was too late and he suffered injuries.
