Big fan of McCallum’s. Wish he’d been more marketable.

Watched this many times befor. Many people in the past commented McCallum got the better of Hearns. Yes it's sparring but I see Hearns having the upper hand in this session.

This is exactly the case. Mike was so polished and sharp and didn't waste anything, and yet had he only had Hector Camacho's personality he might have been one of the greatest fighters since he would have gotten the fights and possibly done well.. But, those guys Hagler, Duran, Hearns and Leonard and including Wilfred all had something very different which guys had to contend with. To get through all of them is much harder than the guys Mike got through like Mannion or Minchillo or McCrory or Curry- at that time which would encompass the four kings. And he came up a little late. Here Mike is number 4 ranked and Tommy is champ.. So this is early 1984 when Tommy was preparing for Michillo probably. Tommy and the other guys Duran, Leonard and Hagler and Wilfred were all establish, actually Wilfred going up and not doing well at mid.

He’d have been right beside Burley out in the rain waiting for his shot in the old days.

I see that also... It is clear that if Tommy used his jab and kept it a jabbing and countering with his right fight he would win a decision with his speed, but getting into a slugfest with Mike would not have worked as well.
