If people think Bivol was a "bridge too far"...Moore by stoppage anytime he decides to let his hands go.

I’m surprised by all the votes for Moore by stoppage, Canelo rarely ever gets hit clean, and when he does, then chooses to defend, he’s nearly impossible to land combinations on to follow up.

I tend to regard the old skool as a half weight below (ie old LHW same size as modern SMW). But class tells. Mongoose would be the first man to stop Canelo.

I don't see a KO but certainly the Old Mongoose would coast to a decision.

Canelo has shown an ATG level chin against solid to great punchers so hard for me to think he’s getting stopped - on top of having great defense and rolling with punches when they do get through…

Historically, Canelo may not be all that great compared to his popularity - but that mandible is legit! Lol.

    Archie by decision though.

Canelo hasn't accomplished enough at 175 for me to see him as any type of threat to Archie Moore.

I'm going with the guy with over 100 KOs, the guy who could knock out a lot of lighter HWs and had the experiences of matching up with a fighter of the calibre of Ezzard.

Canelo isn't going to show him anything that he cannot solve. The bigger punching or quicker and taller fighters with good feet give him trouble - Canelo at 175 doesn't have enough IMO.

Since the topic is on Archie Moore in 1952 here is a piece with Clarence Henry a Heavyweight contender at the time and Elkins Brothers giving their opinions on Archie Moore.

Somebody finally has remembered boxing's forgotten man, Light Heavyweight Archie Moore, who's fighting Clint Bacon on a Community Chest Benefit Show in Denver Friday night.

It's an outrage Moore never got a shot at the title," said Chairman Bob Christenberry of the New York Commission.

It takes a bit of doing for affairs to reach an "outrage" stage in the prizefight business but Archie seems to have a case. He has been the No. 1 contender in his division for four years growing old in the role.

Promising heavyweight Clarence Henry tackled Archie at Baltimore last month and took a pasting.

"He's the smartest fighter I ever fought," Henry Admitted.

The guy can punch, too. A little more than a year ago, he chased an opponent out of the ring at Portland, Ore. A month later, he stiffened a foe with a single punch in Panama City.

"I used to be his sparring partner," said Heavyweight Elkins Brothers. "He knows more about fighting than any man I've ever boxed or looked at."

Apparently a lad named Billy Smith thought so too, at Portland last year. Billy simply gave up during the eighth round in a bout with Archie, climbed through the ropes and walked through the amazed crowd to his dressing room.

Now he'll try to redeem a loss to Bacon via rule a few years back, and chances are Denver will see quite a fighter in action.

Archie Moore was Lt Heavyweight Champ from 1952 to 1962...he was one of the all time greats...and at 1 time he was the #1 rated Heavyweight in the world and gave Marciano one of his toughest fights! The 'Ol Mongoose has seen it all...He has the most KO's of anyone in boxing history! 220 fights...130 KO's...Can he beat Canelo?....Take a WILD guess...
