I mean, its not that you are entirely wrong, or anything, but a couple things:

1) Again, the issue is that Wlad was never physically challenged by someone big, good, and hard-hitting. You judgements aren't bad and you have a right to them, but Wlad never handled business with someone like Anthony Joshua, so saying that Wlad is better than Usyk, or prime Povetkin would have been a better challenger than Joshua....not buying it, here. I just don't agree. I have much more confidence that Usyk would have handled Povetkin, Haye, etc. Than Wlad handling prime Joshua or Fury. Based on fights like Brewster and Williamson, I think even Dubois is a good day's work for Wlad.

2) I think you might be viewing some of Wlad's challengers with nostalgia.

Povetkin, who I think highly of, has some low lows. People seem to forget that the Rahmen fight was supposed to be Povetkin, and he just baled. He ran. When he came back, he was new super-hard hitter Povetkin...and was busted for PEDS.

Chagaev- massive injury problems, with Hep C and rumored injuries to his eye, nerve damage, etc, and never looked good, even when winning. Cancelled out of more big fights than he had. They called him "sick note" on here.

Ibragimov- I actually love this guy and think he could have been a great fighter, but he changed his style after the Austin debacle, cashed out against Wladdy, and promptly retired. Years later it came out that he had a chronic hand injury that prevented him from punching with power.

Haye- c'om. The guy was stopped by a LHW and dropped by a super-middle. He was terrified of being hit at heavy.

Again, I am not criticizing how you see it--I just see it very differently. Wlad is a guy who tepidly built his way to a kind of statistical greatness, whereas Usyk has charged head first to it.

 

No I feel you and all solid points.

1.) Wlad fought Fury and Joshua at an old age. And while he got outboxed and outfoxed against Fury in a boring fight, AJ was literally his last fight ever and he almost stopped him. STILL, your point stands. I’m not mentioning the other circumstances and what ifs of the Fury fight because we can always do that with any fight, but I think it’s kind of unprovable to be taking away from the opponent. As far as head to head prime match-ups, it’s hard to imagine Wlad would beat Fury when Fury completely nullified him the way he did over 12 rounds (again, not an exciting fight, but he had Wlad completely gun shy.)

I think prime Wlad gets the stoppage against AJ.. but when it comes to these what ifs, they mean nothing in this conversation, as fun as they are!

You may have misunderstood me, I was lumping Usyk, AJ, Fury and The Klitschkos in one category (as the elite of their respective eras), and all of the other top guys of each era in the other. “Best of the rest”. I was saying, I think Klitschko best of the rest were better, not that they were better than AJ and Fury.

I thought Haye looked better around the time of his brief HW stint than you seem to (and was probably juicing, lol)

I agree on Sultan and Chagaev, buts it’s worth mentioning that as unspectacular as Ruslan looked (seems all he did was try to land a single left hand at a time, over and over) he was pretty effective with it.

While I am by no means a WK fan who stank out the joint more often than not he is clearly Number 1 and Usyk is not going thru WK's resume undefeated.

VK should not even in the discussion, his best "win" is TKO6.

 

You on the other hand, as demonstrated on other threads, you have no idea what you are talking about. You openly don't like Usyk because he doesn't go for knock-outs, which is NOT a thing in this sport. It is a sport, not a barfight. You should go watch barfighting.

I am no longer even bothering to read your posts, as you are not a fan of the same sport as I am.

Look, I have nothing against you other than you have some brick-stupid opinions and ****-stupid posts. You have openly said that you don't like Usyk because he doesn't knock guys out...I have stated my opinion that you don't really count and this is not the sport for you. I don't think that we have anywhere to go from there, and I won't be reading or responding to your nonsense.

I like reading and debating posts from guys like MagnificentMatt, as above. At the end of the day, we disagree a bit...a difference of perception. But he knows his stuff and states it well. We have a lot more common ground than we disagree on, because there are no agendas.
