If that is all that Canelo has left these days, a rematch with Bivol is pointless. Last night was nothing more than a glorified sparring session. Very few meaningful punches attempted, and, even fewer landed. I can see why Canelo is avoiding Bennavidez.

Haha, that makes sense because I was at the fight and it made zero sense to quit like he did, everyone was happy the fight was over though so no one really care to figure out why he quit… Was hoping someone that watched it on the TV knew why but after your answer it all makes sense ;)

Not super high tbh. As of my reply here it's tied with Usyk vs. Gassiev for #97 all-time.

"How does IB know these things? Is it some sorcery?"

No, you just go to forum view and sort by replies in descending order. Then ctrl+f, search each page for "RBR" (but also make sure to check for "Round By Round" as CST has used that format in recent times for big fights). Pretty simple, sorcery-free. :sisi1

Anyway, since my last post my brain has been itching with the impulse to list out the full top 100 all time list. The demons have won.

Took all of 10-15 minutes to compile that. :D

*** Technically, between Bradley vs. Pacquiao II and Crawford vs. Porter you have the Lucian Bute vs. Edison Miranda thread at 1,549 replies - but it started out as just a preview/prediction thread and was put up 2 months before the fight. It does contain a few pages of what amounted to an on-the-fly RBR by committee, but eh, it already had a hundred page head start before the bell rang so this one could maybe slot in at #59 (sliding everything behind it down by 1) but would need to get a pretty big asterisk.

for this fight, two things are worth mentioning:

    1. Given how dominant he was, any sane commentator would be talking about him in a positive light.

    2. This fight was in Vegas. Vegas has a ton of Mexican Americans and Mexican immigrants. Canelo is Mexican. This is Mexican Independence Day weekend. Venue selected for this reason yeah, but any Mexican would get a warm welcome in Vegas when up against a Puerto Rican. ****, the pride thing is in the bones or something. My wife is Mexican. I’m just a gringo. We watched the fight with our 7 year old. I tried explaining to the kid that “hey, Puerto Rico is part of America, and you’re American too” and she was like “da le una chinga Canelo!” Mind you, she’s a no sabo kid and my Spanish is better than hers.

the fix here was the mismatch. I can’t imagine the level of corrupt judging it would have taken to not give Cabelo the win.

but hows this different than Louis’s bum of the month club? Cherry picks are just part of the game. And if you’re the most famous Mexican fighter in the world, fight on Mexican Independence day weekend and can charge a **** ton for the ppv buy and sell well despite the mismatch…

Rigged isn't the right word. I should have said "staged." All of Canelo's fights feel this way. Even when he fought GGG. GGG clearly won the first fight but everything is so hyped for Canelo, they erupt every time he does anything. If his fights were fought in neutral venues, he would have 3 or 4 more losses on his resume. His nickname ought to be Canelo "the cherry picker" Alvarez.

hes hit peak and started rolling down the other side already, but hes still performing at elite levels. his dedication to the prep side is keeping him sharp. his reflexes and reaction time are still there, but i suspect he can only perform in spurts now. berlanga basically allowed him to work at his most comfortable pace, and he was still huffing and puffing in the post fight interview 5 minutes after the fight. i think benavidez would push a pace that would be a problem for 12.
also, i was surprised at how big berlanga really is next to canelo. dwarfed him. canelo cant one punch stop these big guys, he needs to break them down, and his pace really doesnt lend itself to chopping down big durable guys. but i dont see anyone at 168 that could beat him right now.

Berlanga was massive compared to Canelo. I don't know how he makes 168. Did they mention fight weights?

Caught the highlights and from the looks of it I didn’t really miss much from last nights card. The Plant and Fulton fights seemed really fun though.
