To me Ketchel is one of the filmed arguments that the old guys looked horrible .. I know he was tough as nails, etc but as far as a skilled M of Q fighter ? No ... Duran did not have to weight in as a middleweight to punch the crap out of what I've seen in an M of Q match ..

The lightweight version of Duran might son Ketchel. He would attack him like a Spider ******.

Ketchel eventually lands that hammer, and Duran will be Hearns’d

I’d beat Ketchel and so would a lot of you who have some boxing experience, that’s no knock on Ketchel, he had no one to learn from by way of technique, combinations, footwork etc.
They’d walk straight into the clinch with no head movement whenever someone would throw, I’d simply take a few jabs, then when he walks straight into range, slip the uppercut in, this goes for a lot of the earlier guys, Jeffries, Burns, Ruhlin etc, guys like Corbett, Johnson and Fitzsimmons had more ability, but I still see basic errors that get pointed out when you’re still a beginner these days, like pulling straight back with all of their weight on their backfoot, leaving them with no balance to counter and no room to get out of the way if the opponent follows up with combinations, they leave themselves trapped.
Edit: People may think I’ve taken the ‘Humour me’ part a bit too seriously, but I’m just calling it how I see it, the eye test doesn’t lie and the fact is boxing has evolved technically by miles since then.

I like Duran but I actually don’t feel all that comfortable about it.

To me it would depend on the era and rules they fought by. Durn is no question the superior boxer, but Ketchel is much bigger and hit much harder. I could see Ketchel roughing him up in a fight and stopping him using the old rules of the Ketchel era. In a fight during Duran’s era it’s an easy decision win for Duran.

Ketchel would knock Duran out. Duran was great as a lightweight and even got an amazing win as a welterweight, but he wasn't that great at middleweight.

I agree that boxing evolved so much and that Duran would make Ketchel look like a kid...until Ketchel catches him with that right.

Ketchel was maybe MW but he had HW knocking power in his hands, I think he punches harder than Hearns but was also much more durable.

He's just too big, powerful and durable even tho boxing evolved, he would KO Duran.

Ketchel too physical and agressive for Duran, and wins late

There isn’t much else to say to this but that you’re a fool and this post is all wind bag chatter. I’d advise you reconsider how much you think you know about boxing lol. I’ve said some dumb things on this forum myself but this is a classic.
